I am thinking about getting rid of my 585H (titleist) and getting a 3W for a couple reasons:

i don't hit the 585H well because it has a little bit of draw built into it, subsequently i draw it a lot-

I also don't find myself using it as much as i thought i would, and it doesn't get me there in 2 on long par 5s.

problem is i haven't found a 3W i like. I play 822os irons and a 905r and really like them. the 906f2 has a REAAALLY small face though and i worry about hitting it well. Is it much bigger than a 904? i can't hit that, tried. I may consider selling my hybrid soon though, pm me if you're interested. i'm thinking 85$ shipped w/headcover in very good cond.

I meatn I'd probably be willing to trade, but I mean you said it makes you worry if you can hit it well...so if you want to give it a try, then we can.

i don't hit the 585H well because it has a little bit of draw built into it, subsequently i draw it a lot-

That's more the shaft, then, because the 585.H is neutrally weighted with a square face.

Since you didn't say, why not list what shaft you have in the 585.H?
the 906f2 has a REAAALLY small face though and i worry about hitting it well. Is it much bigger than a 904? i can't hit that, tried.

See our reviews, too, on the 906 and 904 fairway woods.

oh ok good idea. the shaft is the 4175 S Flex. I bought it slightly used and regripped it with a lamkin black and white grip.

so you're saying its the shaft that makes it offset? can i fix it?

no, I think the characteristics of the shaft contribute to the draw you get. Not 100% on this, but if the shaft is too flexible for your swing, the face closes at impact/follow through causing the draw?

idk, in fact the more i look at it maybe i am just setting it up when i play it that way. maybe i should just open the face more. but i am still going to consider trading with arsenal for the 3W

thanks to iacas suggestion i read the review on the 906. it was very helpful. i realized that i need the 906F4 though instead of the f2. i hit the older 904 at austads and found the width to be so small that i couldn't stay in the middle. I think i would have the extra confidence i need with the 906f4. i am going to list my hybrid on the marketplace and consider trades for a 906f4. actually i wouldn't mind just having both clubs but money comes into play :(

here is the review:

would it be good for me to try to find a ys-6 S for my 3W since that is the shaft in my driver, or will any S shaft be good enough for me?

The clubface isn't closed OR offset on the 585.H. There's nothing to fix.

Either the shaft is not right for your game (perhaps too weak a flex) or you're not setting up square with this club for some reason. It doesn't do anything to draw or hook on its own.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
