Totally confused. Bought a new set of Taylormade xd burners and had them fitted. 3 degree's up right. played maybe 8 rounds with them so far and i am hitting everthing to the left with them. I talked to a local pro and he told me getting fit might have been a bad idea since inside hitting of a mat has no way the same arm position as hitting them on the course. I can see his point who ever has a flat lie all the time. I am having no problems with my driver or wedges. Nice and stright. does any think going back to flat might made a difference or should i just get used the new clubs bent. Any help would be great.

Getting fit wasnt a bad idea, but maybe whoever did it wasn't totally sure.

Everyone gets fit on Mats and they have no problem at all. I'd say to go back to the pro shop and tell them to fit you again. And Correctly this time. If it's not the clubs its probably some of your arm movement.

3 degrees seems like a big adjustment, but you want the lie fitted for a flat surface, so that is not the problem. I would question the advice of any pro who said what you quoted. If that is what he actually said, then is he suggesting that level ground is somehow different from any other level surface? Or is he saying you swing differently indoors?

If you take your normal stance and grip are the clubs toe up or heel up? If they are level to the mat then your problem is your swing... or at least, not the lie angle.

Are you really tall or short? Did they change the shaft length?

So can I be confident in being fitted by a retailer like Austad's or Golf USA or should I go to a USGA Pro at a local course? I know it depends, and either could be good or bad, but in general...? How long should a fitting take?

Most retail outlets can do a decent job if they have good equipment. Even the software on the

PING website does a pretty good job because most of it is just taking some measurements. When I bought my first retail set, I did the web-fit and compared the results. It also helped me become familliar with the process so I knew what was going on. The kind of fitting you need at your level is pretty straight forward. Get the grips the right size, shaft length and lie angle right. When you get down around a 10 handicap you would benefit from a more complete fitting that would include custom weighting and building of clubs. If you swing on a launch monitor to get your speed and launch angles, the whole thing could take less than 30 minutes, maybe an hour. When you are having clubs custom made it can take 2-3 hours. • Day 82: mirror work again tonight. Working on the same shoulder down and roll and twist stuff. Going on vacation tomorrow and putting the clubs down, so new streak starts in about 10 days!
    • Day 44, June 17.  Today was some preliminary stretching, exploring what I'll want to set up as a regular routine (both while on vacation without clubs and when I'm back) (aside: this is part of an upcoming goal to stretch daily in a meaningful way, but I don't plan to count it as practice on days that I can meaningfully practice with a club)
    • Having a rough week. Went to the Dr. because I was really weak and could hardly swing my driver.  I take Propranolol 20 mg tablets twice a day. Seems like the Propranolol was driving my pulse down (low 50's).  So we cut the dosage in half and I started taking my blood pressure. It was a little high but pulse came up.   Then yesterday I raised it to 15 mg tab by taking it 3 times a day. Blood pressure 127 / 77 Pulse 75.  Heading out tomorrow morning for 18 holes.    I have my driver set at 10.5* but seem to have my swing speed to low and I can't get the lift on the ball I need.  I have not played this week in hopes I will have the strength to raise my swing speed. I may have to raise my loft to 12* . (I will take my driver wrench) tomorrow. (This Parkinson's is a pain in the butt.)  Will give you a report when I get back.    Retired Old Man, Terry
    • You still got to lift your arms. You basically just roll your wrist over in the 1st half of the backswing.
