Hi mates. Today I went to a store and hit a couples of ball with this drivers. The 905R has the UST shaft and the 907D2 I don't remeber what shaft it has but is one blue.

I feel much better with the 905R than the 907D2. My question is, which one would you pick and why?

Thank you!

Regards!

the 907 D2 has the Aldila NV Proto. I'd say the D2 is a bit better. It'll give you more forgiveness, and when hit in the middle it feels sweeet. But if you want more workability, the 905R is the way to go. Overall I'd pick the D2 because of tighter shot dispersion, nicer feel, and a nice amount of workability.

The 907D2 is the updated version of the 905R. It's got a little more MOI and a bit less spin.

For more, of course, go here and check out the chart.

Personally... I really like the 905r due to its workability, solid feel, great balance, and very nice sound (I hate obnoxious sounding drivers *cough* cobra). The UST shaft on the 905r is very nice, and so is the aldila the D2 has. For half the price of the D2 I would go with the 905r because it is almost as good as the D2, and has a great shaft and should work great for you. Save your other $200 on some wedges or a new putter.

The price is a big reason of chosing the 905R hehehe. Here in Mexico the 905R costs 700 usd and the 907D2 600 usd very expensive. But I'm planning to buy it this summer in the US but the 905R is still cheaper so I could buy the 3 wood or my putter.

Def. The 905r if price is a big factor. Love my 9.5 with UST Shaft, hit the D2 with the aldila and wasn't impressed with my numbers, mainly spin. Thought the D2 wasn't really an upgrade. Also the D2 you could have tried might have had the New Diamana for titleist shaft, heard good things about that OEM shaft, should lower the spin rate. Bottom line is word on the 909 debuting late this year (september?).

But the Diamana is silver? The D2, the shaft was blue. But I really like the UST, I also tried the 906F4 withe the UST and I really feel it solid. Great clubs.

I dont really like either of them. They're both very harsh feeling. The D2 is easier to work a drive with, but even when I did hit either of them flush it felt like I was hitting the ball with a 2x4 instead of a golf club. I could have gotten a slightly used D2 for free and didnt do it because of titleist drivers feel so bad off of the face to me. I still play my 4 year old TM r580 (even after purchasing a r7 425) because it is still the most comfortable driver I have yet come across.

I cant believe that both of these clubs felt harsh to you.

Which one provides a higher trajectory?

Often, trajectory is more a matter of the shaft, but between these two heads alone, they're about the same. The 905R puts a bit more spin on the ball. Titleist currently lacks a super low-spin driver.

I apologize, that's right..but, thank you..yes..with all things being equal.

No, not really. My driver swing is pretty consistant. My bad balls with driver tend to be low slider like draws that spin off my target line when they land.

With the D2, I was losing at least 15 yards carry on my drives compared to a 5 year old TM r580, and the 905r wasnt that much better for me. I could have gotten either of them for free because my pro is a staff with Titliest and he often shovels off his used stuff to me. Maybe its the shafts, the way they are weighted, or whatever, but those two clubs didnt jive with me. Ironically, my r580 finally cracked on saturday, and im still not comfortable with the r7 425 i bought, so im using an old 975J right now. I hit it really well in a range session yesterday.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
