My wife and got rid of our carpet recently (gotta love the hardwood floor... ugh) and have thus lost my putting practice area. I'm looking for a practice mat about 7-9 feet long- any putting mats in particular that people like, or should I just get a strip of carpet? The other catch for me is that we don't have much storage space in the apartment, so its gotta be something I can either fold up or store under a bed.

I am soon to be in the same situation so any help would be great. I looked at the company that Erik spoke about in the article on building your own putting green, but they were a little steep on price. I would like a happy medium between price and quality so any help would be great. Thanks!!

The cheap route would be to buy a long runner similar to THIS . Flip it over, trace a soup can at one end, cut the hole with a box cutter and voila - the poor mans putting mat.

    • Attempting to lift. Any better?
    • Day 82: mirror work again tonight. Working on the same shoulder down and roll and twist stuff. Going on vacation tomorrow and putting the clubs down, so new streak starts in about 10 days!
    • Day 44, June 17.  Today was some preliminary stretching, exploring what I'll want to set up as a regular routine (both while on vacation without clubs and when I'm back) (aside: this is part of an upcoming goal to stretch daily in a meaningful way, but I don't plan to count it as practice on days that I can meaningfully practice with a club)
    • Having a rough week. Went to the Dr. because I was really weak and could hardly swing my driver.  I take Propranolol 20 mg tablets twice a day. Seems like the Propranolol was driving my pulse down (low 50's).  So we cut the dosage in half and I started taking my blood pressure. It was a little high but pulse came up.   Then yesterday I raised it to 15 mg tab by taking it 3 times a day. Blood pressure 127 / 77 Pulse 75.  Heading out tomorrow morning for 18 holes.    I have my driver set at 10.5* but seem to have my swing speed to low and I can't get the lift on the ball I need.  I have not played this week in hopes I will have the strength to raise my swing speed. I may have to raise my loft to 12* . (I will take my driver wrench) tomorrow. (This Parkinson's is a pain in the butt.)  Will give you a report when I get back.    Retired Old Man, Terry
    • You still got to lift your arms. You basically just roll your wrist over in the 1st half of the backswing.
