Wanted some new gear but I'm thinking of delaying that and going here instead.

It's only a short drive from home and looks like a great place to practice.

Who knows....I may cure my regripping problem yet.

Thinking about trying a single lesson out and seeing how I like the pro and then maybe signing up for a package.

Looking at you sig it looks like you have a nice set of clubs as it is. I would think it would be more beneficial for a player in your handicap range to spend money on lessons, especially if you have never had any. I just wish I would follow my own advice.

Norman, Oklahoma......wow...small world. I spent 5 weeks not to far from there for my job back in 1998. In the afternoons and weekends I'd play some of the courses around. Karsten Creek was a lot of fun but pricey. I spent a lot of time playing Lake Hefner. Those were some fun weeks...even though I was working.

Yup.....I started playing in the mid nineties when I was in my mid twenties. Stayed with the game until 2004 or so and quit playing due to time constraints and near constant shoulder pain from a bowhunting accident and continued archery endeavors. Quit doing the stuff that was causing pain and rehabbed my shoulder. All has been painfree and well for the past year. Watching the Masters this year got my blood boiling for golf again. I found my bag in the closet and slipped out my putter and a sleeve of balls...drove over to a nearby course and putted on their practice green for an hour (slick and firm bentgrass). I was hooked again. Now it is an effort to get back down to former handicap. At the time, I could be counted on to best "old man bogey" virtually every round. It'll come in time, I suppose. At almost 40, I can feel that I'm not as limber as before. Doing some daily stretching, walking and dieting to get where I need to be. The only clubs I was thinking of updating were my woods, but for much less than that cost I found that I can get a series of lessons from the place I posted. 5 individual hour long lessons spaced out at my desired intervals...the last of which is a playing lesson on the course (one of the nicest and most challenging public access courses around, too). I talked to one of the pros yesterday evening....after posting the topic. He said that later in the process they would evaluate my gear and offer suggestions as to length/lie/loft adjustments and make recomendations if I'm looking at new shafts and etc.

Hmm, not familiar with Karsten Creek but I grew up by Lake Hefner and played there for a summer or so when I was younger. Just started getting back into golf last year but still head to OKC to play Hefner and many of their other courses. They really aren't bad at all for being muni courses.
