Has anyone tried the new TaylorMade Burner balls; that is the ones that sell for $19.95 per dozen. I tried them recently and was pleasantly surprised by their performance.

I was surprised because I thought they would be hard as rocks. I found the ball to be as long as most other balls I've used and not bad at all around the green, certainly not a rock at all. At $19.95 per dozen, I think they are a good buy compared to other balls that offer similar performance at a higher price.

I agree. I tried the Burner balls and really liked them, but they didn't quite have the short game control that I wanted, so I tried the Burner TPs. They are just as long as the Burners and have excellent spin around the green, and for $5 more they are still a very good value. I recommend you try them.

I received three free boxes of the Burners and, when I work through them, I will certainly give the Burner TPs a try. I agree that, while they are not the hardest ball around the green, they are not the softest either. I have been able to adjust to them, however. I do look forward to trying the TPs.

I may try the Burner TPs before the end of the season, but for now I've been stocking up on last season's TP Black. Because TM changed the balls, you can get pretty good deals on last year's TP. One local golf shop here is selling last year's TP Blacks as buy-one-get-one. So you get two dozen for $40. You can't beat $20 a dozen on tour level balls!

You're right, $20 per dozen for tour balls is pretty hard to beat.

Yeah, just check around. I know some of the "bigger chain" stores have last year's TPs at a lower price too. Dick's and Golf Galaxy, for instance, have them priced at $30.
