I was wondering if their is anything special you guys do to pick your ball? You test balls at a launch montitor? Just pick one because your favorite professional plays it? Cost? What drives you to use the ball that you use?

In order:
  • How it feels around the greens (100 yards and in)
  • How it behaves off the irons, particularly the 5-iron on up - irons I expect to hold the green with easily
  • How it reacts on long shots and how easily I can shape the ball (with any club). Two reason, but equal in consideration. Long shots include the driver and 3W, primarily.

All that being said, I use the Pro V1x. The V1 (the only other ball I'd really consider) spins way too much for me. I don't like sucking back 20-yard pitch shots. Likewise, it spins too much off the driver and throughout every iron in the set, and is a little over-zealous for me with shot-shaping.
