Golf is different from any other sport. If you play squash (as I did a lot of years in my life), you have to concentrate the whole time in the game, you can't talk durning it is played and if you play with someone who is at a very different level from yours its boring. In golf you walk and chat with your partner (I usually play with the same people who have become my closest friends, with my girlfriend, etc). I can play with Phil Michelson and my grandma at the same time and have a nice time (without keeping the good players ahead or the bad ones behind). That's what makes it a great sport!

I'm a surgeon, and the position I have now a days was offered in a golf course by a fellow surgeon who I played with once. SO that's getting something from your game, isn't it? lol

Cheers...

It's addicting because 99% of players can do bad, but still have the potential to do good.

Like almost everyone has the potential to hit a PERFECT ball on EVERY shot. Do they? No...but there is the chance.

Golf is absolutely addicting. I work at a course where I am around it for anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a day, so you would think that I would want to get away from golf when I got off work, but instead I hit the range for and hour or two. Did I mention that this is at ten o'clock at night, and for some reason there is no place I would rather be.

It is the most addicting, frustrating, sport I have ever played. I used to be a fairly good athlete and was always known for good sportsmanship. I don't know what it is about golf, but there are times I want to take my Sun Mountain cart and push it into the lake at the course.

I shoot a 39 on the front and a 46 (should have been 55) on the back. Just when you think you mastered it, the snap hook is back. After hitting 4-5 bad shots, one of your partner comments "you are coming out of your shoes". You slow down and start hitting great shots. 5 minutes later you are trying to crush the ball.

I play almost every day. I am an addict.

I'm addicted, no two ways about it.

But it saved me from taking a 60+ hour a week job that, at the time, a big consideration for me was that if I took it, I'd rarely get out to the golf course, except on weekends. Now I realize that, once I finish my degree, I'll earn more and spend fewer hours working than I would had I taken the aforementioned job. And I get to play golf 2-3x/week in the meantime!

Golf isn't just addicting, it's saving.

I always end up doing my chores first, but that's how I try to get out of them.

I've never had my clubs taken away, they know not to do that.

    • I don't have enough details to know what to tell you, man. If they were walking across, to play devil's advocate, maybe just wait another 10 seconds next time.
    • Day 11: Putts with a metronome and worked on some feels for greenside shots.
    • I realize the frame cuts off my tail but wanted to specifically see my hand path and club shaft and head travel from A5 to A7 with the grip and posture work I have been doing . This might be the shallowest I have managed to get the club head to enter into impact. I like the finish much more as well.
    • Context:  I used to play golf very regularly (and when I'm playing regularly, I'm on TST regularly).  In summer 2022, I got my handicap down to a personal-best 11.9.  Unfortunately, in the three years since then, I've had far less time to play, and didn't really make the time to practice.  I've played a bit more the past few months, and I anticipate having a lot more time to practice starting in about two months, at which point I'm hoping to go back to my old practice habits (practicing daily, Evolvr lessons, spending more time on TST (come to think of it, I can do that important last part now)).   But it was thinking about how different my nines have been a few times in the past month or so that made me wonder if there was a thread here about it, and sure enough, there was.  In the past month or so, I've had a 38-46 and a 45-39.
