Golf magazines are like womens' magazines. Full of ridiculous promises aimed at the gullible.

That's a great analogy! I've given up on those mags. The only one I read now is GolfWorld. It's weekly. No tips, just news and opinions. I always look forward to it's arrival.

The only quality article I ever read in one of those magazines was Butch Harmon's 10 keys to a swing change. He wasn't telling us how to change a swing, what it focused on was how a person can go about changing their swing and what to expect. He relayed Tiger not hitting balls when he changed his swing. He said he has video of Tiger slowly swinging his club correctly, over and over to get the feel of the correct swing. That has actually helped me keep my wrist flat and maintaining my lag during the swing.

Everything else, especially from Leadbetter and Mclean, is pure drivel. I can't even read Mclean's advice at all. Just pure nonsense.

I keep expecting to read, "Want to cure that slice, hold a frying pan in your mouth." "Stop hitting it fat, just swing the club with your armpit."

It's like they really aren't interested in helping you fix your swing. When I recently read Clampett's "The Impact Zone", I kept asking myself why no one has ever written this in the magazines I've read.

There was another, similar to the Mickelson/Callaway ad, recently in Golf Magazine. "Back to School" or something like that. The article described the writer's few days at a Dave Pelz school and the phenomenal results. Clearly an ad for Pelz's schools.

That sounds like one of those things that's labeled "Advertisement" at the top in small letters but formatted to look like an article.

yeah, there was nothing good coming out of that article. It was a shameless Pelz school plug.

this reminds me of tee it up with tiger. There was victory red advertisements in every camera angle. The whole thing was just a promotion for nike golf and their new irons...i was disappointed in the instruction.

Well, after reading the latest issue Golf magazine this thread came to mind. They had some instructional articles in there saying not to take a backswing on chips and putts!!! LOL I closed the magazine right there! Ironically, it was my last issue asking me to renew. Not gonna happen!

David Leadbetter in general. I would LOVE if someone would do a story comparing and contrasting what Leadbetter has taught over the years. That to me would be a golf story worth reading.

YES,YES,YES,YES,YES

I actually watched one of his earlier videos the other day about ball position. He recommended constant position ala Hogan. In one of my last issues of Golf Digest, he suggest the one ball distance for each type of club. Thank God, there is some new blood in the pro instructor ranks coming into their own; so Leadbetter, Harmon, Flick, and Smith can get some new ideas from them.

The one article I won't forget...
Jump in a swimming pool with an iron and practice swinging through the water (in water about chest high)
Do you wear a rain glove?
