I went to Golfsmith the other day to try this driver. I had read good things and wanted to see for myself. I was hoping not to like it because of the price: $500 for a driver is just a bit too steep. Anyway, I took about 10-12 swings and loved it. I did not believe the launch monitor numbers as I found them to be out of whack: 122 MPH swing speed, 168 MPH ball speed, 2700 spin rate and 280 yards of carry. (The same monitor told me I was hitting the AP2 6I, 212 yards. Sorry, that's just not true)

Anyway, does anyone play with this driver? If so, what did you find when you replaced your old one? Did your FW hit, improve? Was it worth the $$$?

i really didn't like this club so much...can't say why.

Hey, does the golf fitting place you mentioned do outdoor fittings or is everything indoors? and after the fitting, can you order the clubs directly from them from any manufacturer you want?

I play one now,have a maybe 20 plus rounds on it,great driver,i had the the r7
before it,honestly i don't notice any difference between them, its probaly more forgiving on off off center hits though, your not going to get any more distance off a ping, callaway, talormade e.t.c in the new 460 drivers than the old ones, its just good adverstising, you think you do for the first few rounds trying to justify the change and then reality sets in.My advice, don't spend $500 on a off the shelf driver,i am sorry i did.

They finish about the middle of the pack in most comparisons that magazines do. Instead of getting a gold medal, they'll get a silver, but it won't be a bronze. A lot of it is because they say the performance does not justify the price, not because it's a bad club.

I hit the R7 Quad now. At a Demo day I hit the burner, then the CGB. Liked the CGB better, then the rep pulls out the Tour player Burner with the Fujikura shaft 2 degrees open and this thing was a monster. Made the CGB so inferior. Then the guy tells me its an 800$ driver set to Sergio specs. I said too steep for my blood. If you can afford it that club is nails.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
