Interlocking grippers

When looking at the "What grip do you use thread" I started thinking about the details of the interlock grip, basically how fully one intermeshes the hands.

QUESTION: when you interlock, how snug do you put your R pinky into your L fingers? Are your V's (between fingers) pressed into contact (FULL LOCK)? Or is there a little space there (PARTIAL LOCK)? Another way to phrase it is: how do your knuckles align when on the grip? (seems they align like Vardon grip when you use partial lock).

I think I read someone caution about the full lock (since it doesn't promote a finger grip in R hand) but I try to do that since it gives me a more secure feeling.

Based on your descriptions, I would say I use a "Partial Lock".

I have a decent grip on my clubs with my L pinky interlocking with my R index finger and i find it most comfortable. I've tried messing around with changing hand grips before but they all felt like i was gunna throw the club lol. I feel with the considered full lock grip i can get better wrist movement when on my foreswing.

I usually just cross my pinky over my index finger. I do not actually interlock them. My pinky is resting in the groove between my index and middle finger.

Honestly, I have no clue.
I just felt interlocking was most comfortable and I've never worked on my grip. It's always been right where it needs to be.

That's the Vardon / overlap grip.

Either way, the power points are not at the junction of the right pinky and the left forefinger. Keeping a light grip, you should feel more firm in:

• The last three fingers of your left hand and
• The middle and ring fingers of your right hand.

I changed from interlock to overlap 30 years ago to stop a bad hook. The word "lock" is lost on me as a grip concept.

Interesting... I have a tendency to hook, and I've never tried the overlapping grip... guess I'll have to go to the range after work, haha.

I suppose mine would be partial - though i've lately developed slight pain in my right pinky (not enough to prevent me from a full swing, but enough to be careful when shaking hands with a burly man).

Do you think this has anything to do with the partiality of my grip? Anyone else have pain in their right pinky with a partial interlocking grip?

I don't know if it has to do with the partiality of the grip; probably more to do with the interlockedness, haha. I do get that pain, after just about every round... I'm pretty sure it's indicative of a problem with my backswing, or just overgripping.

Tried it out yesterday, and it did help quite a bit. It could have just been placebo effect, but I felt like it encouraged a lighter grip pressure and calmed my overactive wrists down, and I was hitting down on the ball much better. Of course, maybe I was just so focused on how weird it felt that I stopped over-thinking my mechanics, haha. To tie this in with the above, its also the first time I've hit a couple buckets without pain in my right pinky.
