I played rifle (non flighted) 6.5's long ago in a set of titleist 962's. I went back to S300's when I got cleveland TA3 form forged's, and now i'm playing taylor r7 TP's with S300's. I have the opportunity to get a brand new set of r7 TPs at a unbeleivable price. My question is, have anybody played these irons with the Flighted rifles? and if so What's you perspective? I tend to hit high majority of the time, but I have been honing my swing for a lower ball flight now, so I wonder if getting the Flighted rifles will help or hinder my game. If it makes a difference the ball i usually play is the proV1x and Taylor TP red. Keeping in mind distance is not a concern...

You didn't mention Project X shafts anywhere in your post. Mistake or a bad title?

Some clubs don't work very well with the flighted rifle shafts because the clubheads themselves are already somewhat "flighted."

I don't know about the r7 TPs. If you like the set you have now, why switch?

you are correct, I completely left them out, thank you. i had hit the project x's in a 5.5 flex on a set of mizuno mp 60's. I liked them, but they felt a little whippy, and I didn't get my regular distance from them. Basically, I'm just trying to see if anybody has used any or all of these shafts in the r7 tp's, and there feeback. I'm changing out from my clubs I have now because when I ordered them I ordered them a half inch long and 2 degrees toe up. the half inch was a last minute decision, but the 2 degrees tow up was false from the fitter I used. I actually need 2 degrees flat. the r7 tp's are standard a little flatter than normal, so I'm going with them again, and selling the other ones because I cut them down to standard, and they're a little stiff now...

I would pass on the Rifle Flighted if you prefer your lower trajectory with normal Rifles. I like the normal Rifle lower trajectory too.

I've hit the R7 TP's with Project X 6.0's and was very satisfied. It's not going to give you a lower ball flight though. I prefer the project X to the Dynamic Gold because I feel like a get a more consistent feel at impact, everything just seems to feel more solid.

I personally like all the Rifled shafts over the step shafts....

Flighted VS non flighted, the feel isn't really any different but you will notice a higher ball flight on the flighted.

I play the PX 5.5 on my MP67s and they feel solid more so then the rifle flighted 6.0 I used to play on my TM TLs. They both feel good but I would take the PX over the rifle flighed, I am not sure how the flighted PX are.

I always found the S300 to be wippier then the rifle 6.0, especially near the clubhead.

I play r7 tp's with the S300 shafts... I really like the shafts. They are very consistent.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
