I'm making a weekend trip to the Shannon/Ennis area this weekend, and I'm wondering if anyone knows a reasonably nice budget course to play? I'm not going for golf at all, and my buddies play but aren't nuts about it like I am, so the price has to be right!

Suggestions, or should I just forget it?

Hey, Ennis Golf Club itself is a nice parkland track and around 30 euros a round which is quite decent. i would suggest Lahinch but it doesn't exactly fit your criteria! as far as i remember there are a lot of cheap courses in the shannon region but i cant think of any more at present...

have a look at SHANNONGOLFCLUB.IE ( they have a twilight rate 25 euros after 6pm)
sunset is about 10pm so you'll easily get 18 in.
located alongside Shannon airport, follow signs for Hertz rental
enjoy.

Just for "THE CRAIG" drive out to the DOONBEGGOLFCLUB.COM
West Clare.
At the front entrance they have security tell yer man:
you'd like to see the pro's shop (fanstatic with prices to match)
as long as you are polite he'll just wave you on
car-park is on the leftside of the clubhouse
after you've been in the shop
go on into the clubhouse, it's to die for
you won't be disapointed.
just make sure your wearing proper attire
and please let me know how you go on.

      Day 242 4-19 correct hip/chest movement in backswing. Less hip turn more chest turn. Did a bit of wrist arch stuff as well.

      First round at Quail Ridge: 47 + 47 = 94 *Note: It was 25+ mph winds with gust in the 35+ mph. It was also around 58 degrees. I felt like I was out in Oregon. The greens were very firm.  Driver was decent. It didn't cause me an issues.  Irons were the biggest issue. Just low point control was lacking. Mostly on the chunky side. Also, my irons were routinely 20-30 yards shorter than normal. Even on holes with a cross wind, the ball was just dying. We played an extra 9 holes after the first 18, and the wind died down by then. I stepped into a 9 iron, and it came up 15 yards short. I have no clue what is going on. I should not be hitting 9 irons 140 yards when I am hitting my driver 300 to 310 yards.  Warmup didn't give me much confidence. I just kept shanking every other iron shot. I didn't shank an iron during the round. I just felt all out of sorts today. Coordinate felt off.  yea, I have no idea if I am purposely slowing down my swing to feel my downswing piece. Again, I hit a decent 9 iron and lost 15 yards of carry. I hope this is just an off day.
