Hey folks,

I'm seriously considering purchasing a Ping Rapture 3 wood as a driver alternative. I hit the snot out of my hybrids, and have starte using them off of the tee a bit more than a driver, just due to the fact that I'm a lot more consistant with them.

I hit the Rapture today and fell in love with it. I have an r7 steel right now, but I tend to cut under the ball with the shallow face....the Rapture is almost like a "mini driver" with a 292 cc head.

Has anyone played with this consistantly enough to give me a log term opinion? Are there any other suggestions of clubs that I should check out (I've hit and dismissed Callaway, Cleveland, Titleist, Nike and Adams fairways in my search so far)

Thanks!

Hey folks,

Had to do a double take on this one. A 292cc 3w would be HUGE, but I looked up the specs and you meant to write 229cc, which is still pretty big. I had a Tour Edge titianium 3w about that size and it was awesome. Still looking for another one like it.

Good luck with the Rapture. The 3w, that is, not the end times thing.. but good luck with that too, I guess....I'm gonna shut up now. greg

Hey folks,

I am thinking about doing the same thing...I currently play a Burner 3 wood (see sig) and it is very forgiving (off the tee) but I have to swing really hard to get the disatnce I would like out of my 3 wood and that leads to being inconsistent...on the other hand I demoed the PING Rapture 3 wood (14 degree) last week and between the bigger head and the titanium face I feel like it would be a good club as an alternate to the driver off the tee (for short PAR 4's and when my Driver is not working)...however, I am not sure how much I would like this club off the ground...I hit it okay off the ground but the head is big...good luck with what ever you decide...

I have a Rapture 5 wood that I REALLY like. The head is large as the 3 wood is. (The 7 wood is normal size) Rather than do what you are thinking of doing, I carry a 9.5° G10 driver and a Nike Sasquatch Lucky 13° driver. Works out very well. I hit it about 260 and it's a real fairway finder.

    • Courses naming holes like Augusta and Shinnecock do is pretentious wanker bullshit
    • :sigh: LMGTFY: The normal range of motion for knee flexion is approximately 135 to 155 degrees, allowing for essential activities like walking and sitting. For knee extension, it typically ranges from 0 degrees to about 15 degrees of hyperextension in some individuals.
    • The course is playing tough. We’re only about 50 miles away. It very windy here and going to get worse. They’re all dressed like it’s the British Open!
    • Have posted in a while or practiced for that matter. Dealing with a few medical issues. But I was able to practice and film today. I’ve played 5 times this year. Misses have been pulls or heavy shots. I feel this has a lot to do with my lower back issues. When I feel good, I get good rotation and I hit the ball well. Today I felt good. Hips and lower back felt nice and flexible. I worked mainly on the hands feeling from the top. The club head should feel like it’s going down and away from the ball and target at the start of the downswing. The right knee should stay a little flexed at the top. These are the only swing thoughts other than high hands (arms going up) I’ve been focused on. I did PW, 6 iron and Driver today. Here is PW. The hands look better as does the knee in the rehearsal. The knee gets more straight in the actual swing.   My left arm is not straight at impact, which it has never really been. But that’s not the focus of this practice.   6 iron looks better than last time. Driver also looks better than last time. Playing tomorrow. Hopefully my body will cooperate.
