Evening all

My local proshop is selling the skycaddies and i was talking to the pro about them etc and he told me he charges £5 a round for members to have a shot. I though that was very cheap and took him up on the offer to see what there really like.

Well due to them being banned at my local course there not allowed to be used in our 36 hole open 2mo so i went out on the front nine this even to try this gadget out and am well impressed i took longer than normal to play 9 holes but i was out with the note book and pen about 3 times a hole makes notes of yardages of the holes.

Gives you the yardage to front / middle and back of green which is really good. Also if your course etc is a wee bit open and you end up pulling / pushing your driving onto the other fairway it still gives you the exact distance to green which is really good. The 150 markers on the course and nearly spot on but i was really take note of places where i normally drive and within 150 yards.

Great bit of kit but going to look into it a bit more as there is a few question i would like answered before i decide to buy one.

Hello,

I have been using the Sky Caddie SG4 for over 1 year now and it had been great. The battery seems to last 3 rounds on average and I have not had any issues with the GPS. I was skeptical at first since I noticed most of the course yardage markers were right on, but for all of those instances where you are nowhere near a marker it has been invaluable.

Another great feature is the yardage to layup locations. Such as 170 yards ot the 90 yard spot. Also the mark ball location to see how far I truly carry each club and to see the total distance with roll out. I play a particular course quite often and have learned exactly which club will keep me from the hazards no matter how hard I hit it.

I feel lost without my SG4 so my review is 9 out of 10. I would give it a 10 but the battery should hold charge for a bit longer in my opinion.

I am thinking about getting an SG5 and wondered if it is worth the extra money. Can anyone give me any insight if it is worth it or should I just get the cheaper model.

    • Have posted in a while or practiced for that matter. Dealing with a few medical issues. But I was able to practice and film today. I’ve played 5 times this year. Misses have been pulls or heavy shots. I feel this has a lot to do with my lower back issues. When I feel good, I get good rotation and I hit the ball well. Today I felt good. Hips and lower back felt nice and flexible. I worked mainly on the hands feeling from the top. The club head should feel like it’s going down and away from the ball and target at the start of the downswing. The right knee should stay a little flexed at the top. These are the only swing thoughts other than high hands (arms going up) I’ve been focused on. I did PW, 6 iron and Driver today. Here is PW. The hands look better as does the knee in the rehearsal. The knee gets more straight in the actual swing.   My left arm is not straight at impact, which it has never really been. But that’s not the focus of this practice.   6 iron looks better than last time. Driver also looks better than last time. Playing tomorrow. Hopefully my body will cooperate.

    • The way to practice this is not at full speed, even if you do manage to "change" something. But no, not quite like that. That's a late lift, but you still have the early roll, and you stand up too much in that swing (likely in trying to "lift" — the "lift" is relative to your torso, not the ground).
