Got to play Trump National yesterday up in Palos Verdes CA. Had a great day with 2 of my buddies and our instructor. We played the blue tees which ended up being too short at 6300 yds. The views were unbelievable. The only thing I can compare it to is Poipu Bay in Kauai. There are a few really good holes but I thought the track was just ok. At 300.00 per on the weekend it is not for everyone. Fortunately for us it was comped. I am no golf snob by any means but thought it was over the top with a very mediocre golf course set in a spectacular background. I shot 81 with 3 doubles. Lots of trouble if you don't drive it straight. We are supposed to play Torrey south in 2-3 weeks so I am looking forward to that.

I havent had the chance to play Trump National, it looks really nice. Hopefully some day, but wow! thats is a short track!

Have fun at Torrey. I played there yesterday. They cut the rough so its not deadly anymore, but the course is still in great shape.

I've played there once too. I'll agree that it is a bit over the top, two man-made waterfalls on a course with ocean views? Our group thought that was a bit weird. Other than that, I enjoyed it a lot. Except when I drove my ball into the rough, sheesh, that stuff is t h i c k. There was also one really goofy green, and massive undulation and the pin was in about the most impossbile place. We played form the back tees. It is quite a bit more of a beast from there, a few 500+ par 4s, I did birdie one though! And that last hole from the back its like a 250 yard carry to the fairway. Actually I just remembered I took pictures, and I got one of that nutty green...

The full album

Crazy 12th green. This is a view from a different tee. The front of the green is on the right. Our pin was in the nasty swail just over the bunker.

Long walk to the 18th tee

What your faced with once you walk back there...

Oh, I forget the bazillion bunkers guarding the green. That's me in the fairway though!

That course looks amazing. What's the yardage from the tips Ben? 6300 sounds awfully short, they must have some really tough holes there?

Oh, only 1000 yards extra.. haha. 7311.

Yeah, some tough ones out there. 180 the shortest par 3. two 500+ par 4s. 615 yard par 5. And like I said, the rough is ROUGH! Not, the place to be.

    • Day 242 4-19 correct hip/chest movement in backswing. Less hip turn more chest turn. Did a bit of wrist arch stuff as well.
    • Day 42 (19 Apr 26) - Spent a bit of time working on maxing torso rotation…hit a few pitches to help reinforce.
    • Thanks - that was a total surprise…

    • First round at Quail Ridge: 47 + 47 = 94 *Note: It was 25+ mph winds with gust in the 35+ mph. It was also around 58 degrees. I felt like I was out in Oregon. The greens were very firm.  Driver was decent. It didn't cause me an issues.  Irons were the biggest issue. Just low point control was lacking. Mostly on the chunky side. Also, my irons were routinely 20-30 yards shorter than normal. Even on holes with a cross wind, the ball was just dying. We played an extra 9 holes after the first 18, and the wind died down by then. I stepped into a 9 iron, and it came up 15 yards short. I have no clue what is going on. I should not be hitting 9 irons 140 yards when I am hitting my driver 300 to 310 yards.  Warmup didn't give me much confidence. I just kept shanking every other iron shot. I didn't shank an iron during the round. I just felt all out of sorts today. Coordinate felt off.  yea, I have no idea if I am purposely slowing down my swing to feel my downswing piece. Again, I hit a decent 9 iron and lost 15 yards of carry. I hope this is just an off day.
