Our annual staff "get-together/tournament," the Newport Cup, is being held this year in my home town of Erie, PA from Thursday, September 4 through Sunday, September 7.

I've just about locked up all of the courses we're going to play (and their tee times), and right now the list looks like this:

Fri: http://thunderhillgolf.com/
Fri: http://littlemountaincc.com/
Sat: http://lakeviewcc.com/ (mine)
Sat: http://pknpk.com/ (Upper course, not yet scheduled)
Sun: http://whisperingwoodsgc.com/

Currently, we have five staff members committed to coming. I'm waiting to hear from Tom, our sixth. That leaves two spots open for an eight-man field.

I've invited one former staff member and Newport Cup contestant, Everardo, and am hopeful that he will play. I've also invited Ben, but last I heard, he may be playing in Pinehurst at that time.

That leaves anywhere from one to three (though hopefully not three!) spots open. Next I'm going to check with other former staff to see if they want to attend, as well as current contributors, though most have already begged off (babies on the way and bad timing at work). Next, any friends of staff members who are coming will have the option of coming along.

Finally, if necessary, I'm going to invite forum members to fill any remaining spots. Clearly we're not going to invite someone with four posts in three years. We'll be looking at long-time members who have indicated that they're not an idiot.

If you're interested in attending the Newport Cup, SUBSCRIBE to this thread. You may even want to post in it (but you don't have to in order to subscribe). I recommend you subscribe with instant email notification, because then when and if I update this thread, you'll get a notification. That update may say "I need one more guy." It may say "We've got a full roster."

And that's about all I have to say about that.
