I'm not quite to the point of going for a Prius....but might get one as a secondary commuter car.

How much gear can a Prius fit? Can it fit two cart bags easily? Probably going to need to fold the rear seats down for that?

Guess the other concern is that if I do fold the seats down...my clubs will be visible and may be stolen. Can't have that happen.

What does everyone do when you have an economy car where your clubs are visible?

I don't have a Prius, so I can't comment on the storage space. But most hatchbacks/SUVs/etc these days have a retractable cover thing that covers the stuff in back so people can't tell if you have anything back there.

EDIT: In fact, I found a picture of the one for the Prius:

I dont know how much you are trying to get in there. But one of our two cars, is a Volvo S40. It has a smaller trunk than the Prius and we can fit 2 large cart bags in ours with no issues.

Thanks...I do realize that there are covers. However...I am guessing that the clubs would have to go into the trunk length wise...as the trunk width is not wide enough...even when pulling the driver out of the bag.

I'm almost positive you could get 2 stand bags in there no problem. At the very rear, the space gets wider, and you could fit them diagonally as well.

I use a cart bag since courses I play don't allow walking.

Maybe the bag will fit diagonally when I am tooling around solo. I just want to make sure I can conceal my bag when I leave it in the car when I grab a bite to eat before/after the round...or if I run an errand. My golf playing partners typically have a cart bag too. Guess that is when the rear seats fold down.

In California...you can't tint the front three windows (windshield and two front windows). So that isn't an option for us.

As long as your drive a mostly stock car (not lowered, lifted, crazy paint job etc.) and dont limo the the front door windows, you will never get pulled over for window tint. My experience anyway. Maybe cops down there are more bored than up North though.

I could probably fit 5-6 bags in a Prius. I managed to stuff 2 full size cart bags in a S2000 a few nights ago.

I can fit two cartbags in the backseat of my truck... if you can't fit two of them in the TRUNK of a Prius, the Prius is worthless.

To avoid getting them stolen, you cover them with either a retractable cover or a blanket, tarp, or similar item.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

Im sure you could easily get 2 golf bags in the back of a Prius. As far as concealing them, why not just lay a blanket over the bags?

I faced the same issue, but with a Mini in NYC. In case you can't fit them in the trunk without folding down the seats, I was able to buy an after-market luggage cover that velcros on to the rear window sill (and the tiny cover over the tiny trunk space). End result: nothing to see at all, with two bags or one and a pull cart.

I can't seem to find the place online anymore, but I'll snap some pics next time I have my clubs in the car.

I have a Prius and I can fit my full size bag (not supersize pro bag) across the car in the spot where the trunk widens (nearest the hatch back door). I also have my disassembled power walk behind cart in this space between the bag and the rear seat backs. I can cover this all with the retractable thing pictured in another post.

i have a 2012 Honda insight EX and i can fit 2 stand bags easily in my trunk.  I do have to take my driver out and put them in separately because i have to angle it to get it in.

you should check out the Insight.  Not as gay as a prius.  Cheaper.  2mpg less than a prius.  Check out fuelly.com for the gas specs.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
