My GF bought me the V300 as part of my bday present this year...
AMAZING!
From the cool a** graphics that show you the entire hole, scorecard & stats tracker, shot tracker that shows where your shots landed, hazard view, etc... this thing made me pull out clubs I normally wouldn't have pulled out on shots..
ie: a stupid 3 wood when I'm 270 away on a pretty long par 5. when the only yardage markers were the 200 & 150 SPRINKLER HEADS. so no, I'm not walking a 100 yard radius to get my reading.
I've only used it twice so far, but it's pretty damn awesome.
And your courses are included in the purchases for LIFE!

everyone's using skycaddie... Garmin, etc...I just thought I'd shed light on this one that I can't believe she did the research & used her
"womanhood to say - I liked it b/c the pictures were cute."

I have the Sonocaddie XV2 because I wanted a GPS with no additional fees and the ability to self-map/edit. I've been very happy with it.

(Just thought I'd throw this out there because I know they aren't one of the big names.)

I just purchased a GolfLogix. My deciding factor on choosing between all the models out there was the fact that GolfLogix had every course I had ever played in my life available.

Sonocaddie is missing about 40% of the courses I've played. Skycaddie is only missing 10%, iGolf around 10% and GolfLogix seemed to have them all, as well as tons of reports of how fast they are in adding courses made me go that direction.

Wow! Really? I've only run into 1 so far that wasn't mapped. But, like you, I wouldn't buy a GPS with that many courses unavailable to me, even if the downloads were free.

Maybe I'm misreading the website. The courses I type in do appear there, but most of them don't have the little icons indicating they've been mapped.

No, you are correct. If they don't have this:

, then they haven't been mapped. (This: just indicates that the scorecard is also available, but I don't use the scoring function because I prefer to handwrite my scorecard.) They do have this statement, but I've never asked them to map a course:
If the Scorecard ""image is shown but the Satellite" "image is not shown you will be able to download the scorecard information only- but no targets (Green, Hazards, etc) will be available for download. If you download the scorecard information- you may use the scorecard information to map the course yourself, or please email us a "hole layout" and we will be happy to map the course for you if satellite imagery is available. If your course is not mapped or shown in the database below you may request it here or mail to mapping@sonocaddie.com. We are pleased to provide service for you.

I just ordered the Sonocaddie. I checked my home course and it's mapped, but no scorecard. How do I get a scorecard on there?

Otherwise, it looks great! I like the visual presentation with pointers to the hazards. No guessing when multiple hazards are present.

anyone have any info on the sonocaddie as to how long it takes them to map a course once it is requested and the such?

I just contacted sonocaddie. They're pretty fast on turnaround. They emailed me back within the hour. They gave me a # to call and person to speak to if I had additional questions. You can map your own courses. Of course it's time consuming..and thank God all the courses I normally play are on the list of mapped courses....but I'm sure they shouldn't take that long to map. don't they re-map courses on a yearly basis?.. well at least I think most of the GPS companies should b/c courses are constantly changing and being upgraded...etc

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
