Rangefinders for on the green

Since rangefinders are considered legal equipment to use is there a rangefinder or other device on the market that gauges distance from your ball to the hole? Yes I'm aware of such things as pacing and flagstick gauging but if the technology is allowed from 200 yards out than I can't fathom why it's disallowed while at 9' 6". And please don't say a tape measurer . The rules don't really state a specific disallowance other than a measuring device can't gauge wind, gradient, temp. etc. Anything out there?

HAHA. never thought of this but I dont see how it would help you. There are so many variables in putting that effect the speed and stroke its not even funny. On one green your 20 foot putt could play like a 1 footer if its downhill and on fast greens. Putting is about reading the green and touch. Knowing the length would only matter if every green played the same speed and were completely flat.

Tape measure's perfectly legal. Can't be lying there while you putt, but yeah... what? What are you getting at? You can measure distance. Anywhere.
