i would not go with the ping g10 irons. There was an article in a magazine saying that the sweetspot for the new g10s had been moved too close to the heel making toe mishits very unforgiving. I would recommend looking at the new sumo irons from nike.
ok, i went and hit a g10 and i10 7 iron today. i had to hit what they had at the clubhouse. after a rough measurement, i saw that i was probably a green dot with about 1/2-1" length.

They had the g10 in the green dot with 1/2" length, but the i10, they only had a yellow dot (which is one color below the green) in a 1/4" length. btw, i due plan on getting professionally fitted before i decide on which iron and before i purchase them. this was just to get a feel of the irons.

the g10's were amazing. they were easy to hit just like i've read. and the solid shots were not as short as i thought they would be. felt pretty great.

the i10's were amazing also. it did take a little more practice to hit the i10's, but when you hit them solid they felt awesome. even the fat shots got the ball to a respectable distance toward the target.

i felt in my test that the g10's was the winner, just because i hit them slightly better. however, i had to consider the fact that the i10 was a yellow dot and shorter than what i measured out to be. they were not as comfortable as the g10's because of that fact. i bladed the ball a bit more with the i10 which maybe due to it being a shorter club and flatter lie.

if i were to buy today, i would get the g10's. they make you feel confident. the i10 did too, but not having the correct spec club did not make me feel as great. but i'm still keeping it in mind.

when i get fitted, we will be able to find out which of the two will be best for me.

both felt like butter when hit solid. the mis-hits still felt pretty solid but not butter like.

i hope this helped a little for anyone looking to purchase any of these irons.

i will have a more detailed review once i get officially fitted for one.

that's why i keep wanting to go to the i10's.

but i will let the pro help me decide which is best for me. either way, they're great clubs. and i've gotten used to the thick topline of the g10's after hitting a bucket yesterday. it actually gives me more confidence.

I thought I wanted the i10's too. But just as you, when it came time to actually hit the clubs, the G10 was clearly easier to hit. Ball flight a shade too high for my liking with the AWT shafts. You get over the "big" look after the first 20 balls. I definetly hit more accurate shots than my forged cavity back Mizuno's. Looking for a better shaft for me right now for the G10's. Something with a high bend point to help get the trajectory down. Thinking Dynamic Golds at the moment. So if you hit it high to begin with, you might want to choose another shaft besides the AWT. Although the long irons are pretty good with the lighter weight. I hit my G10 4 iron better than my hybrid. LOL. Thinking about picking up the 3 iron too.

Make sure to get the U Wedge. It is a 50* gap wedge that has become my new short game magic stick around the greens.

that's good to know.

i will be getting fitted, so i will have the right shaft installed.

the g10's ended up being a lot better than what people told me. it was very crisp and it launch the ball a pretty long way. i automatically felt that my handi would go down just by purchasing these clubs.

but like i said before, i will let the fitting session tell me what i need.

Yes, I was quite surprised how good they felt as well. I also had heard negative things about the G10. All that went away the first time I hit one close to the sweet spot.

Only thing is, that I seem to be 10-12 yards shorter with the G10's than my Mizuno's. Which sort of pisses me off b/c I went with the Reg flex AWT b/c I demoed a stiff and a reg on the range and was hitting the Reg flex FURTHER than my Mizuno/DG S300, with a much easier and slower swing. Now after 4 rounds with the G10's, taking that same easy slower swing and I'm a club to club and half shorter with the irons. I even switched to a low spin distance ball and haven't really noticed any gains. Same swing with Driver and woods shows no loss of distance. I think it is b/c of the extremely high ball flight. I'm hoping I can lower it with a high bend point shaft. I'm searching at the moment. I think that with the right shaft for my swing profile, these G10's are going to increase the fun factor for me. After years of playing smaller profile players clubs, the whole "Pings are easier to hit" deal rings true to me now.

    • Rory’s once again in a position to win a major, and The Masters at that, but having BDC breathing down your neck can’t be a good feeling. He has a lot of presence on the course when playing. Fingers crossed that Rory can get revenge for the 2024 US Open and finally collect his career slam.

    • I've seen/heard this question in every sport.
    • I’m definitely pulling for Rory. I must say I wish BDC hadn’t gone to LIV. I like his YouTube content and just don’t get why he felt he had to go there. It’s obvious he loves the game and the fans, and he’s not getting near the hype when he plays those exhibition matches on LIV.    I’d like to see Rose have a strong finish as well. Most of all though, I wanna see Rory have a solid Sunday.
