I am going on vacation next week and wanted to play some golf with my friends. We will primarily be in the Colorado Springs area, but we could go to Denver or Pueblo if necessary. Initially, we talked about the Air Force Academy or Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, but now he is talking about Walking Stick in Pueblo.

Any recommendations? Maybe suggest one near Colorado Springs and one if we wanted to travel a bit.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If cost isn't a factor the Broadmoor, in Colorado Springs has 3 excellent courses. You may have to stay at the hotel to play two of them, but at least one (The Montain course) is open to anyone. It was recently renovated and is well worth playing IMO.

You can also play the Ridge at Castle Pines which is located between Denver and Colorado Springs.

You should also check out Bear Dance in Larkspur if you have time. I just played it the other day and it is fantastic (Check out my review here saturdaygolfer.com/blog).

It is $95 during the week, but worth the price.

I can't beleive that I used to pay that during the main playing season!! There are some really nice city courses (Denver/Aurora) that you can play... Try Golfnow.com.... If anything you can get a little cheaper of courses! I liked Saddle Rock and Murphy Creek.. I never golfed anywhere fancy in the CO!

    • Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

    • Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.
    • I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
