As stated above which clubs would you recommend? I am looking for a nice set of clubs above my cheap slazenger set that I currently have?
-Forgiveness
-Playability

I am looking between these and really like both and am having a hard time choosing which ones. Any input as to why one over the other would be awesome.

Thanks

I'm obviously biased because I chose the Callaways over the competition, but...

This customer service experience certainly draws me closer to the company: http://www.thesandtrap.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14696

I ended up choosing between the X20s and Titleist AP1s. I thought the feel of those two clubs was superior to any of the others, but I liked the Callaway looks better.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

Yeah I was leaning more towards the X-20s the local pro shop said they would work well for me.

I tried the X-20's but they didn't feel all too great. I liked the Ci7's better. :)

I prefer the X-20's when I demoed them. They seem to have a little more forgiveness. But both clubs are great.

Ive also looked at them. How do they compare to the r7 and x20. I love the looks of the AP1s compared to the others as well. I might just have to try some at the range tonight if there are some available at the pro shop!

Thanks

I have never hit the r7 irons but I have the X-20's and I wouldn't trade them for anything !

Amazing forgiveness with the X-20's is all I can say.

I haven't really hit any other high end irons to be honest though, although I don't really care to either

I own the r7 irons and have no complaints about them. My handicap has dropped by about 10 since purchasing and getting used to them. I never really tryed out the x-20's because they were out of my price range.

From my signature, you see what won for me...
I tried TM, Titleist AP1's, Ping G10s, and the X20s. All were fine....it comes down to personal preference. I have never been a Ping guy, and frankly was surprised that I did not pickup the AP1's as I've been playing DCI's for 10 years. I liked the X-20's and a good friend of mine recently picked some up and he's a single digit handicap, so I figure if I ever get time, they'll work for me as I improve.

I hit my new set this weekend and it was yum, yum, yummy

Take demo's - i couldn't get a full set but a partial set was fine and i hit stuff from all kinds of lies and did multiple fittings w/ multiple stores.....

New clubs are fun....enjoy!

Well I thought I had it narrowed down to the two of these but after hitting every club in the pro shop that i was interested I found the right one for me.

After I got down hitting all of these I came down to AP1 and Cobra FP(Which I gave no real thought to but decided to try). I ended up going with the Cobra FP and love them. I got fit but turned out I was standard on everything.

Thanks for the input and I will say anyone that hasnt tried AP1 should give them a try because they are awesome, but in the end Cobra beat them out.

    • To flog this subject even further, if that's even possible, this article from Golf Monthly just appeared today in one of my news feeds. Written by a golf writer in the UK who I never heard of, he's basically saying that there should be only 3-5 rounds from the most recent 20 that should count towards the average and only competitive rounds should count. He claims the erratic scorers would have less of an advantage than they do now. He makes a lot of references to "club golfers" in the UK being the ones who are mostly dissatisfied. https://share.google/qmZZBEoJvOxHxJGil  In my experience with my league where we have golfers with indexes ranging from 5 to 40, looking at the weekly results from the past two years, I can detect no pattern that would substantiate the claim that the current system gives an unfair advantage to either erratic golfers (aren't we all?) or higher handicappers. Apparently though, at least in the UK, this seems to be "a thing."
