Buying hybrids

I'm in the market for a couple of hybrids and really liked the Callaway X series that I tried at a local demo day. I generally buy on demo days because fitting is free and you can test things out on a launch monitor (especially important when buying a driver). Having a wide variety of clubs to test doesn't hurt either.

I had every intention of buying that day. However, most of the hybrids they had were fitted with very flexible shafts. They had one Aldila NV 85 S that I really smoked, but it had a tendancy to draw too much. I wanted to try a heaver and stiffer shaft (I've got an NV 105 X in my HiBore 25 right now). When I asked the rep he pretty much lost interest in me. He said they didn't have any and couldn't make one.

I'm just wondering - have any of you had similar experiences buying a hybrid? They don't come w/ the fancy interchangeable shaft fitting system that drivers have so are you pretty much at the mercy of what's in the bag? I really don't like the idea of buying a club w/o being able to hit it first.

I'm interested to hear what your experiences have been.

I bought both of my 503Hs off of Ebay and didnt get the chance to try them out before I bought them. I cant say that Ive been disappointed.

you can never go wrong with a tm rescue (any model) it is the club for me which i know i will hit perfect every time.

I am not sure what Lexington has to offer by way of golf stores but most have a place in them that you can hit them.


I recently purchased a Nike 15* hybrid and love it. I was skeptical because it was a Nike product but I have been really happy with it so far. 230-240 out of the fairway and 240-250 off the tee.
