so recently ive been doing this first aid course so i havent been able to play golf for a week.

i went to the driving range a couple times\

normally i have a nice little distance producing draw with my irons and my driver..

it would seem that the gods of golf are now PUNISHING me because instead of producing a nice little draw

it is hooking about 20 yards left of my target...and frankly i just wont have it...

sooooo any ideas? what may i be doing wrong?

oh and also i tried everything opening up the club face, playing the ball farther forward in my stance

i even tried this drill that i normally use when my swing is acting up:

you stand facing your target place the ball in line with your right foot about 2 feet right of you.. then you hit it while still facing toward your target this is supposed to help you release your hips and not rely on your wrists so much..

it didnt fix it this time...

plz help me playing golf tomorrow and i will not tolerate shooting more than 4 over...

Easy fix,on your follow through make sure your hands fire towards the target
and on the finish make your hands finish high and don't let them wrap over your shoulder.Something similar to a wedge..

aeroburner tp 10.5 stiff
superfast tp 2.0 3 wood stiff
Halo 25 and taylormade tp 19 degree hybrids
miura cb 202 and wedge
tp 52* wedge, tp 56* taylormade spider mallet putter

I have the same issue at times myself. My normal ball flight is a high slight draw. But when my nemisis rears his ugly head, it turns into a severe double cross (especially on long irons, hybrids and that stupid three wood i continue to try and use). Draw turns into a hook, snap hook or the like.

At the range yesterday, I worked on better ball contact by placing a tee on each side of the ball and focusing on staying down through contact. I also did as mentioned in the previous posters message, keep hands high on follow thru and firing towards the target. All worked well to give me a straight ball flight - sometimes with a slight fade. I did however have the occasional hook creep in, but i chalk that up to breaking the habit.

I feel it all goes back to the subconscious when i learned the game and was told to learn how to hook the ball. Now the fade is nearly impossible to reproduce with any consistancy. (Try slowing down the transition, as this helps when i need the fade on drives).

BTW- I see you have Callaway's X-18...I use X-20's....could those offset hosels be contributing? I know that the squareway FT-i that i have looks like it is set up to pull hook my shot, and it is nearly impossible for me to hit straight. I have given up on that 3wd and stick with hybrids instead.

Driver: FT-5
3 WD: FT-i Squareway
3 Hybrid: a3 Boxer
3-PW Irons: X-20
Wedges: 52,56,60Putter: Circa 62 #1Ball: Pro V1

I recommend checking your grip and alingment before changing anything else. If your grip has become too strong (left hand too much on top of the grip, and right hand too much underneath) that may be resulting in the your clubface aiming left at impact with hooks being the result. If you're aligning your body too far to the right at setup that could be adding addition sidespin and/or blocking your arms on the downswing (which can cause them to rotate over). Finally if your body is out racing your arms on the downswing that could also lead to a block and flip action.

Start with the setup and check your basics before you move on to trying to alter the way you swing. If your setup is faulty and you add bandaids in the form of altering your swing you'll be adding compensations that make things more complicated (and require more effort) in the long run.

In my bag:

Driver: Burner TP 8.5*
Fairway metals/woods: Burner TP 13* Tour Spoon, and Burner TP 17.5*
Irons: RAC MB TP Wedges: RAC TPPutter: Spider Ball: (varies ) (Most of the time): TP Red or HX Tour/56---------------------------------------------------
