Hello everyone

I am looking to replace my 3 iron, which I never use, with a 3 hybrid that I basically can use as a tomahawk to get me out of the rough. I probably will never use it on the tee, and rarely from the fairway. I am looking for something heavy, compact, and easy to hit. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have heard that the Cobra Baffler and Taylormade Burner are pretty good for this function.

In my bag:

Nickent 4DX ironwood. It's smaller than the burner and it cuts throw the rough.

I use the hybrid from my sig line.

I've played 5 rounds with it so far.

I've had good results with it from fairway bunkers and rough. Used it on my second shot on a par five two weeks ago. My drive had run from the first cut into a nasty lie bedded down in pine straw. There was only a bit of the ball peaking up and visable. I had a straight shot to an elevated green that was about 210 yards, though it was of huge importance to hit it straight and high as the green was well protected.

The shot came off beautifully and left me with a put for eagle...which I missed but still won the hole from my playing partners.

I also used it on a tee on a very tight par 4 the other day. I had it teed down very low and the resultant shot was perfect!!!!!

I'll grab it for tee shots without hesitation in the future.

I love these clubs.

I'll echo the G10 plug. I've got the same thing, except mine is an 18* hybrid.

Taylormade Rescue Mid 18* with a steel shaft should do the trick. I almost regret trading mine in, but I love my irons so much that I got over it pretty quick. I am considering a 2 Hybrid and drop the 3 wood. The Rescue Mid is a solid club from a couple years ago so they can be gotten for a decent price.

the bobby jones hybrid feels really heavy in the head to me; much more so then my burner woods.

I play a Cobra Baffler DWS 23, but if you really want something that will demolish the rough (not as useful on a tee or the fairway) go with the original Nike CPR wood hybrid in 22* with a steel or IRod shaft. That thing hits it high and rips through the rough. I had the hardest time weaning myself from a CPR 26*

Whatever you decide on be aware that if you opt for a 3 hybrid (19-21) degrees) with a graphite shaft it will be at least 1/2-1" longer than your 3 iron length (assuming standard length steel irons) and probably 30-40 grams lighter so you will probably find it will fly much further than your current 3 iron. Might need to consider a 4 hybrid (22-24 degrees) if your trying to find a match for your current 3 iron.
