Anyone have these irons? Im looking to buy a new set of irons probably in the fall or early spring and these are reasonably priced and seem to be getting good reviews. Are they a pretty good iron for game improvement? Right now I am playing with my target specials that I bought as a starter set and I am looking to upgrade.

I'd recommend the TM r7's over the r7 draw. Havent hit them personally, but seems that most prefer the regular weight distribution ones over the draws.

Any particular reason you want the draw version over the regular?

No there's really no reason I was looking at the draws. I was just looking at iron sets within my price range (300-600) and I saw them and had good reviews. I am planning on going to a golf shop and hitting a couple of different clubs before I buy but Im am trying to do a little research before hand. Can you suggest a good set of irons that I can look into. Its tough just going by what they say on the websites because they all have pretty much the same sales pitch and claim they are the best. I would like to hear from golfers that have had first hand experience with the clubs.

Check out the Cobra S9's. I bought these as my first "real" set of irons and they are so easy to hit, perfect for high handicappers (anyone 20+). They're pretty affordable and were easier for me to hit than the R7 draw.

This is a list of all the beginner sets i thought about before i bought my nickent clubs

Cobra FP Ping g10 TM r7 Callaway x-20/18 Cleveland CG Gold Nickent 4dx Mizuno Mx-19 I hit a majority of these clubs and the mizunos were the best in my opinion. Very thick topline though. The cobra FP's were very nice with a thinner topline.

The Cobra S9's and FP'S are two sets I want to try but I never really looked into the Mizuno's or Cleveland brands. I've been hearing good things about the callaways as well but as far as the ping g10's go, I think they are out of my price range. I guess its going to come down to just going to the golf shop and trying a bunch of different clubs out since there is so many to choose from. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I owned a set of R7 draws for a month and then sold them online. I had a hard time getting the ball in the air with these clubs and eventually, after 10 rounds, gave up on them and went back to my old clubs which are an older set of Wilson Fat Shafts. I will be getting my new irons this weekend. I got a set of Adams A3 irons that I was able to demo extensively and really liked the way I could hit them.

I bought Cobra FP II's this year after advice on this forum and hitting about five different sets. The range you mention is the same as mine was, and I hit the following irons:

Cobra FP II
Ping G10
Callaway X-20
TM RAC OS
Titleist AP I (or II's, whichever is for the higher handicapper)

The Cobra's worked great for me, and after about ten to twelve rounds with them, I can say they offer a high ball flight, they stop well, and don't appear too fat from address.

Good luck.

I have to say that I do like the looks and the styling of the cobra models after looking at them at dicks the other day. I kind of wish I would of hit a couple of balls with them in their driving range but I figured that Im not ready to buy so why bother. I'll just have to wait to see how I hit them when its time to buy.

The cobra's are very nice, I've hit a set of the older FP's and this years and I would have bought those had i not gotten my nickent's.

    • Day 7: got out my chipping net and worked on chipping in the living room for a solid 15 minutes. Worked on mostly low shots, but mixed in a couple of high shots as well.
    • Day 228 4-4 More hip/chest turn and wrist arching. Working on hinging wrist a bit later. Foam balls.
    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
    • Day 550 - 2026-04-04 Practiced in the sim at a club for awhile. Did a SW ladder and practiced for awhile with my 7I.
