Anyone know how much it costs to manufacture a golf ball?

The local golf shop is giving away 6-packs of Srixons that cost $40 per dozen. I can't understand how the store can give so many of these away unless the wholesale cost of golf balls is very low.

Does anyone know what the manufacturing cost and/or wholesale cost of a high end golf ball is?

It is called marketing. They lure you into the store so you can get free golf balls, and then when you want to purchase that $500 driver or $900 set of irons, they have recovered their costs.

I don't actually know what it costs to manufacture a high end golf ball, and am rather curious myself.

Balata balls were expensive to manufacture, but since the advent of Surlyn®, the cost is pennies on the dollar.

Isnt Srixon always giving away balls on the cheap side? I think they just try to establish themselves in the golfball market. Last year i always could get 2 for 1 Srixon Z-Urs - and for that kind of price you cant really complain.
