Well, been trying and trying balls all year long to find the one for me, no pun intended

I bought a sleeve of 08 One Plat and at first hated them, then worked on my game, etc. Tried another and liked them alright.
So, got one of those ebay deals on the mint ones, good balls too. Anyway, I found I love the '07 model! Just really feels and works good all around for me, better for me than the new version. Weird heh?
If I am correct, 08 has the red part near the name, 07 is just black with a + sign, and the 06 is black with no + sign, correct?
So, looks like my balls will come from ebay or as I find the older model at retail stores, last I checked Wal Mart still has the 07 model.

it may be a good ball but the name "nike" is embarrassing

Now, I heard the 07 has virtually no distance...is this true with the 08 and 06 as well?

you are right if you read the golf magazine ball test the nike one platnum went about 237 yards with a 90 mph swing speed while the pro v1 went 252 and the longest the taylormade tp black/red went 259 with the spin comparable spin to the prov1. but the nike one platnum spins about 10 pecent more than prov1s and feels much softer.

Im playing the '08 Nike One Platinum right now and its a great ball around the greens because it spins like crazy but its not the best off of the tee.
You can really feel the ball compressing when you hit it and the distance isnt all that great.
Nice ball, but I feel the Pro V1 is better.

Here we go!

I have only played the 08 version of the Platinum and yes, found it to be very soft and nice for spin and your short game.... however, it might be lacking off the tee a bit.... It is a good ball, but I just choose not to play it, because its not for me. And thats all part of this great game, finding equipment that works for you........

I'll have to check those places for sure.
I have no clue why I like the 07 better, just seem to play better with it for some reason. It's weird, but I do like it better than the Prov, this week at least.
I've read about the distance loss, but I don't seem to notice. My swing is nowhere near perfect or the same every time, though I am trying, that could easily be why I don't notice the loss.
I need to give the 330's another good trial before my final decision, then next year's gear is right around the corner.

    • I am currently playing a Cobra Ltdx LS 9 degree driver and Cobra Ltdx LS FW3. Both with Tensei White stock stiff shafts and original weights of 12g (heel) and 3g (toe). My miss is usually a pull fade or sometimes a slice, swing is out to in. Driver swing speed about 112 mph. Grips are stock regular. Intended change: Driver: Switching to Tensei White x-flex one inch shorter which I suppose would be 44,5? Changing heel weight to 18g. Changing grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Change hosel setting to standard draw. FW3: Changing heel weight to 16g (apparently not available in FW weights, but supposed to be something called "internal weight" a club builder can add which fits between the weight and the screw?). Change grip to Golf Pride Z-grip cord midsize. Changing hosel setting to standard +1. The goal is to 1) get better grip since I tend so lose grip in warm and moist conditions with the current grips and 2) mitigate the misses to start more straight with less side spin. Also considering adding the Cobra Ltdx LS FW5 instead of my old Taylormade R9 and getting 14g heel and 6g toe weights with the same grip as the others and hosel setting standard +1.   All of the above is based on conversations with ChatGPT and, as everyone knows, it can come up with pretty much whatever but I spent a few hours asking about different perspectives etc and this was the recommendation. So, my question is basically, does it make any sense?   Thanks.
