Lots of threads out there on this very topic just search blades. I went from cavity backs, to a combo set, then to all blades with my current set. I used to be against blades until I got some. I love them, I feel my distance control has improved dramatically.

I would say this though, I would get the game then get the blades. Some people get blades before they really have the ballstriking game to match. I was scratch when I bought mine and I still had a lot to get used to as far as making solid contact. Blades totally suck if you mishit them. There is no more just a little on the toe still getting on the green. A minor mishit and you are chipping at best. But like I already said, a solid hit is rewarded because it goes exactly where you want it to go. I did get 3-pw with my set and the 3 iron was just too damn hard to hit consistantly. I replaced it with a hybrid and haven't looked back.

Its all about the feeeeel for me! I rarely mishit my irons, 2 and 3 included. Also for me I think its the concentration factor. I know I have to make a solid swing and seeing the blades help me.

I would use cavitys if the offsets weren't INSANE. I tried my buddies offset cavitybacks and I could BARELY hit my towering fades! Ditto to everyone elses post....

Blades will be able to work the ball better and have a wonderful feel when you hit the sweet spot. However you will be severely punished when you mis-hit them. I am thinking of getting an old set of blades just to use from time to time on the range. I don't know if I have the confidence to actually play them, though. I would say go ahead and get a set. Keep your old irons in case the blades are just too much.

I found an iron in my backyard that has to be the thinnest blade ever, it was one of my grandpa's old irons. I'd tell you the make but the back of it is too rusty. I'm tempted to grab his old irons just to practice my ball striking and go back to my deep reds after a week with them.

    • Day 29 (9 Dec 25) - PW dink and rolls as well as low flighted chips.  Dink and rolls - set up with club head toe down/heel up to promote low flight, plenty of roll out.  Low flighted pitches - club flat on the ground to get ball up a Rick more and check more.   No more than 10yds total distance - focus on getting the ball to finish near (within 10’ dia circle) the target “pin”…

    • Only ever used ShipSticks and never had a problem. It's really nice because you can ship to anywhere not just courses.  No matter what you use, I take the extra care of the clubs and wrap them in something before putting them in your bag and into the shipping box.

If I leave any short or they go to far and fall off the rug, I restart.  Focusing on speed and hitting my mark 3 inches in front of me. Trying to gain consistency and discipline in all aspects of my putting game.
