Tough play of the day

I was faced with this yesterday when I ended up on the other side of a lateral hazard.



The view from behind my ball is straight at the 2nd green. Luckily I was able to play it through the opening on the left and put it in the middle of the fairway where the cart is. On in 3, 4 putt for a 7.

I was faced with this yesterday when I ended up on the other side of a lateral hazard.

Definitely a sticky situation and one I can sympathize with. We have a hole (340 yard par 4 7th hole) where you can have that situation and still be in the correct fairway.

The cluster of 4 trees has grown to more than 40 feet tall now, and blocks the left half of the fairway from anywhere inside the 150 yard markers unless you hit a very high short iron (7I, 8I or 9I depending on how close you are to the tree. Any closer than that and you can't clear the tree and still reach the green. And a low ball hitter has no shot but to pitch out. It's a short hole, but one of the best short par 4's I've played. I'll try and get a shot of that one the next time I play and show you almost the same situation...
