Do you 3 putt?
Miss the 3 footers?
No confidence?
All of the above?

Distance control
the most important part of putting is consistent contact and distance control
if you can control your distance you will eliminate 3 putting.

shoulder vs hands
Putting is personal, but if you watch the pros on tv they all putt with their shoulders and not with their hands, keep you hands out of putting and you will putt much better.

Practice good techniques
posture
hand position
ball position
grip
grip pressure
back swing
forward swing

putt for dough and confidence!

Watch the pros
look how they take the putter low to the ground.

practice, practice and more practice.
keep you putts under 30 per round

I like practicing reading greens,a nd the drill where you put 2 tees down just outside the putter, and swing through them so you make sure you're swinging along your line. I dont give myself more than an eighth of an inch on either side, so i can really pinpoint what im doing wrong.

Im having putting trouble too, and it's absolutely killing me. I'm already missing 90% of my irons to the right, but i had 35 putts today, and it's all bad reads. Practicing reading greens never hurts.

Amen!

#1 Nobody misses a put by 6 feet offline, but it is quite common to see a golfer leave one 6 feet long or short. Putt for a 6 foot circle and you will always be 3 feet away. To have good speed control hold the club softly in your fingers. You'll never get speed control with a death grip. #2 Always make sure your eyes are dead over the ball at address. #3 MAINTAIN THE RIGHT WRIST ANGLE THROUGHOUT THE SWING

I like the drill where you line up twelve balls in a straight line ranging from 3 ft to 15 ft. Go down the line. I also always put a tee, 12 inches passed the hole when practicing putting to keep myself from leaving it short.

i tend to leave myself that stupid 3-5 foot distance when long distance putting.

i work a lot on my putting but i might not be doing the right drills.

I know that my handicap isnt good but the one thing that has helped me the most is counting on the back stroke one onethousand, then starting my forward with two onethousand. I cant remember where i read it online. I think it stops me from thinking so much about the shot.

Just my $0.02

Congrats that you are working hard on the most important part of the game.

One thing I like to check for is my toe position at the end of the stroke. I find myself sometimes closing it severly. I check this by....freezing after I've followed through and looking at it carefully. For me, it is indicative of too much hand action through the putt.

I need to practice way more on putting than I do.

Dang I do all of the above and do the bottom two bad so no wonder I stink at putting... I still think it's all luck though :p

Things I Am Good at in Golf

- Hitting it in the drink
- Finding the rough with my drive
- Staying in the bunker- Hitting grassburners all the way to the hole- Three putting- Posting over par on 18 in only 9 holes- Swinging and missing with an iron

ks8829 had some good thoughts on putting.  Putting is my favorite subject to teach.  My first thought for you is to keep it simple.  Line and Speed are the only two parts of the equasion.  I like to choose my speed first and then choose my line for that speed.

My philosophy is that putting is the most mental part of the game.  I always want to give the ball a "chance" to go in the hole.  That's not to say that I want to get crazy or stupid with the putt.  Made simple, It has been my experience that most people three-jack, when they are conciously trying to two-putt.  To me, the perfect speed is for the ball to go 18" past the hole if it doesn't go in.  That is commonly referred to as "In-the-Leather."

Another point I strongly believe in this.  The only club in my bag that is custome made is my putter.

I hope that this helps!!
