I actually played the tour ix I got on the mail. I noted the spin difference of the driver, but also noticed somewhat of a lower flight. Could have been my swing that day. Overall a nice ball but somewhat clicky on the putter.

I have to give the prov1x a try and report back. Also looking forward to playing a nxt tour.

I'm a little surprised that you refer to the ix as "somewhat clicky on the putter". I actually sold my Odyssey White Hot putter after a few rounds because the combination of the soft face with the softness of the ball resulted in having to kill the ball on puts.

I have seen very good results with the Nike Ignite for the better part of 2 years. Give it a try.

If you want the green holding power and spin around the green or close to it you need a ball that has a urethane other cover. The Taylor Made TP black fits that bill. Urethane cover low spin off driver high spin off short irons and wedges. It also is a high launch high distance ball.

Other less expensive possiblities are the Precept U-Tri-Tour which can often be found a Target or dare I say it Wal-Mart. One I just saw a Dicks sporting goods but have not played yet is the Slazenger Black Label.

After 2 years of trying new and different balls I'm still playing Nike Power softs. They are soft, go a long way and are supposed to have less spin. They work for me. AND, they are a mere $16 a box. If they had a different name and sold for $40 a box they'd be in every bag.

The search for the perfect ball continues...Range ball spin off the driver, with the spin of a V1 on the green.

By mistake, I ordered some NXT's instead of NXT Tours (before the NXT's split into Tours and Extreme's). So I've been playing them lately and I'm completely blown away by them. They drop and stop/spin about 1-2 back on mid irons, spin back 3-5 ft on wedges, and def has the range ball spin off the driver as well as distance ball length. Probably the best mistake I've made in awhile. Though they probably won't be my ball of choice when I get to <10 hdcp, but I'm loving the hell out of them atm. They don't shred on SM vokeys, been playing the same ball for last four 9 hole matches, and at $13/dozen AAAAA quality you can't beat them.

Yesterday I played 9 holes after work with a NXT tour. I didn't get any slice off the driver, but was generally pushing from the tee. I was pleased though because a push is easier to correct. Nice flight of the irons and a couple of 50 yards chips one hop and stop. Shot a 45 which is good for me right now. The slow greens hurt me because it had rained all day, left a few par putts an inch short.

I will keep comparing high end balls and report back, hopefully u guys can add to the discussion here. I haven't tried the prov1x but will report the difference with the prov1 I am used to playing.

I'm always tinkering with equipment and balls. In fact for the high end stuff I started buying from lost golf balls .com great stuff, great prices and great service. I really like the Bridgestone 330-S for all around performance but last year I bought a bunch of maxfli fire tours' from Dick's and I think for the money this is a hard ball to beat. It spins better and flys farther (for me) than the NXT. It has been discontinued but I'm told the Taylormade Burner TP is the same thing. When I purchase again I plan on trying them out. I tried the Taylormade black and red and felt they were good along with a lot of the other premiums but I still come back to Bridgestone 330-S , Prov's, NXT tour, and of course the maxifli fire tour. For the record Taylormade black and maxfli fire tour seem to be the longest but the Bridgestone is a very close second and spins a bit more.

I'm really loving the E5+.

I played in a group filled with single digit golfers yesterday. One of them was playing the E5+ as well. He had nothing but positive comments about the ball.

When I did my part and put a good swing on my irons I was rewarded with a ball that checked up swiftly....just a foot or so. The better player was rewarded with either at hop and stop....or a hop / stop / 2'-4' backspin.

Both of us really liked the feel off the putter.

The E6+ from what I'm told by other players is that it has excellent feel but just doesn't spin as much. Their ball flight isn't quite as high, but their shot dispersion is better with drivers.

The only ball that I'd really consider buying if the store was simply out of E5+ balls would be the NXT Tour. Both have really impressed me.

Yeah I've been using the E6+ balls for a while, and I have been getting great spin on the greens on them and easily control them with the driver. I really wanna try the E5+, and when the B330-RX comes out I'm definitely going to try those.

Sat I played a Prov1x, and the most noticeable difference with the prov1 was a lower trajectory with my driver, therefore ending with shorter drives.

I am assuming the lower spin off the driver will cause this so I need to experiment with more balls and see which one gives me optimum trajectory off the tee and holding power on the greens.

    • Day 29 (9 Dec 25) - PW dink and rolls as well as low flighted chips.  Dink and rolls - set up with club head toe down/heel up to promote low flight, plenty of roll out.  Low flighted pitches - club flat on the ground to get ball up a Rick more and check more.   No more than 10yds total distance - focus on getting the ball to finish near (within 10’ dia circle) the target “pin”…
