  1. 1. Drop and Stop or Pitch and run?

    • Drop and stop
      38
    • Pitch and run
      20

Most of the courses I play are woodlands courses with pretty thick rough, sort of cut out of the forest. When I'm on a links type course, it allows for more bump and run opportunites, but usually I'm in a position where I need to chip or pitch it kind of high, so I chose Drop and Stop.

My favorite shot is drop and stop. Though I always remind myself to aim around 5 yards less. I other words I hit around 45 instead of 50 yards to the pin with my lob wedge.

Totally situational, but down here in Texas, with hard fairways and greens that don't bite, we play a lot of pitch and runs. Land it short and roll it on - unless it's guarded, of course.

The way wedges and balls are now there really isn't much choice. I can't hit a ball from from 50 yards and have it roll half of that. For me it would just be a big guessing game to try and hit a chip shot with an 8-iron and see where it might stop.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I used to drop and stop, but I'm more of a pitch and run player now. Have had better results this way.

i dident vote cause of differences on that 50 yard shot..... if its flat and no bunkers in my line ill go low but if its elevated and hazards i go for it in the air

For me, It depends on two things:

1)How hard/soft the greens are that day
2)How much green i have in between me and the pin.

I didn't vote either

It all depends on the conditions but I'm starting to favor more drop and stop since I've got my swing consistent.

Depends...

If there is a clear shot to the green without hazards, then pitch and run.

If there is rough or a bunker, you have to lob it over.

with room to work with and a known yardage I am more consistent with drop and stop. I cary a laser range finder and use it most often around the greens.
I have a very predictable 30, 40, 50 and 60 yard pitch. (given a decent lie)
