I've been eyeballing this sonocaddie. Looks to be pretty good?? Any suggestion?

Personally, I have the Bushnell v2

But I've played with people that have the Callaway, and they seemed very happy with it. It's made by Nikon, so I doubt you would be disappointed. I would definitely recommend a vertical model (like the Callaway and the Bushnell V2) over the horizontal models (like other Bushnells). I just think the vertical models are significantly easier to stabilize.

That's what I have. Sonocaddie V2. I bought it because it had a lot of courses mapped and no annual fee. (Annual fee on top of an already expensive piece of electronic equipment is a big pet peeve of mine.) The website isn't as slick as SkyCaddie, but I've never had a problem with my Sonocaddie. It just works. I've checked it against distance markers and my Pinseeker, and the Sonocaddie is always accurate within the margin for error for GPS. I also think Costco may carry them, which means fantastic return policy. Hope this helps!

I used a gift card I had for Callaway and picked one of those up. I think mine is the sealed one though. Their made by Nikon, so its a quality company. As far as durability, ive dropped mine a few times already and its held up well. Compared to GPS on the cart its distance is accurate. Its pretty simple, just point a click. The only negative I have is, I wish they put some sort of stabilization in it as its can be tricky to get a pin with a tree behind it in some wind or with a shaky hand like mine.

I use the Sonocaddie and it's great! Simple, inexpensive, no yearly subscription!

No need for color or fancy rotating green stuff, just give me the distance to the front, center, and rear. Once I am withing 50-60 yards I don't need it, it becomes a feel thing at that point. 90% of the time I use it for my second shoot on a par 4 and second and third shot on a par 5.

Let's stick to topic. For the record, the topic isn't "which rangefinder should I buy."

I mirror the earlier posts: it was the doofus using it, not the rangefinder. I'm sped up by using the rangefinder.

    • Day 29 (9 Dec 25) - PW dink and rolls as well as low flighted chips.  Dink and rolls - set up with club head toe down/heel up to promote low flight, plenty of roll out.  Low flighted pitches - club flat on the ground to get ball up a Rick more and check more.   No more than 10yds total distance - focus on getting the ball to finish near (within 10’ dia circle) the target “pin”…
    • Never play with him again, and make sure every time you see him (especially when he's with other people) bring it up as a joke. Everyone will laugh but him. If he wants to ruin his own reputation, let him. 
    • Only ever used ShipSticks and never had a problem. It's really nice because you can ship to anywhere not just courses.  No matter what you use, I take the extra care of the clubs and wrap them in something before putting them in your bag and into the shipping box.   
    • Practicing my putting after work. I put five balls on the carpet and a mug on the other side. Once I make 3 out of 5 I can stop. If I leave any short or they go to far and fall off the rug, I restart.  Focusing on speed and hitting my mark 3 inches in front of me. Trying to gain consistency and discipline in all aspects of my putting game.
