Man, I'm stoked. I've been wanting to put a 3W back in the bag but was dreading spending the cash to make it happen. Last night I was digging through my "garage clubs" looking for some wedges to sell or trade for the 3W when I came across my "old" R7 Draw.

SCORE! A good club for free. Of course I immediately went out and got it re-gripped, but $10 is an easy price to pay for a new stick!

Another reason to look forward to Saturday!

Any other good "long lost treasure" stories?

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. My dad has been a golfer for many years and he told me too look at his old clubs to see if I wanted any before he got rid of them. Luckily, I found his TM Mid Rescue Hybrid! It feels good finding long lost treasures like that.

He said it was a great club and it was only replaced because he got a newer model.

When I started my grandpa gave me his old driver, 3, and 5 wood and the 3 wood actually turned out to be an old cobra (forgot the model name) which has saved my butt out of the rough many times.

When I first started playing golf, I was using a crummy 10 year old set of graphite Burners. They seemed like they were setup for an 80 year old.

Well, while I was visiting my parents, I was rummaging through their garage and came across an entire bag of clubs. The ones listed in my signature.

Apparently my dad got them from a guy a few years back and never decided to use em.
Needless to say they've helped my game tremendously.

I found this really old all-metal 5-wood. It gets me out of rough spots all the time because of how heavy the head is. It cuts through the thick grass and an easy swing usually produces a good shot. It has become my go-to club for just about everything 150 yards and longer.

Odd club. Good results. And all for free.

I bought a Dunlop Super LoCo 457cc 10* driver a season or two ago at Wal*Mart. No, it does not have the sex appeal of Taylor Made or Callaway or Nike or another big brand, but for me to get a brand new club I saw retailing for $150 online for only $45 in person, I was pretty excited. Not just for the sake of a deal, but it felt nice, has a sweet Winn grip, it is gorgeous (bright blue and yellow) and had a cool magnetic-strip headcover.

Unfortunately, at the time, I had no idea how to hit a big driver and it spent the entire first season sitting in my bag providing a lot of bark with no bite. I eventually relegated it to the "garbage club bag" in the garage where it collected some dust before I took it to the range one day because I was dissatisfied with my lack of distance off the tee.

I had some sort of miracle revelation and now it is actually a fairly consistent club for me. While I am still not as long as I probably could be with better equipment and a better swing (long drive of the year was 260...in a fairway bunker with no roll), I am outdriving everyone I play with and hitting fairways more often than I ever have.

I also pilfered a 21* hybrid and a Wilson mallet putter from my Dad's garage and both have helped me out.

I love buying new clubs and gear, but I always take first the free stuff my friends and family arent using.

I pulled out a old 58* golfco baron from the throw away clubs at my old CC. Sure i hate it for chipping and never use it now lol, but i still do for sand shots and she still pulls through. The memories with it lol i tried coloring it with marker didn't last to long.

I found this YES! 33" Sophia in my garage about a month ago. I've had it in the bag since.

Also, I was struggling with my Bobby Jones 3 wood so I found a Cleveland Launcher Comp, used maybe 3 times, sitting there. 15 degree. Pulled it out and have been crushing it! lol!

Also, I dropped the Srixon Gap Wedge out of my bag for most of the year (for some odd reason I kept shanking it) but I fixed my swing with some lessons this summer and now I've been hittin it great! My best club the past few weeks probably!
