I agree with the O.P. in the fact that I hate it when people ask "which is better, AP1's or AP2's?" Or a question along those lines. I don't know if the thread is a joke or not? How is one better? It's what FITS YOU and YOUR SWING.

Ok, this is probably not the best thread to post for the first time, but come on! I have been lurking in here for about a week. I am a new golfer and there is a ton of great info, to include people's opinions about the clubs they use. I do click on the "which club" threads because someone may give a good reason that they like a certain club, and it may be the same reason I was looking at that club.
I am a runner, a triathlete, and a cyclist and every forum that you go to you have the same type of equiptment threads. Most of the info in them get's repeated, and the search function does not always give you what you want.

So I guess my point is if you are getting tired of newby's asking the same question then don't click on the subject line.

And if you don't think the second post was a joke, then you all are being way to serious!

Welcome to the forum. My OP had nothing to do with new people, or newbys as you call them. But today alone we had like 3 of the exact same threads on the front page. And the posters in the threads all said the exact same thing. Nobody is saying that posts should not be made with opinions. Atleast I wasnt. But if you stay here for a little while, I think you will see what I am talking about.

I actually realize what you were referencing, I understand your point. But it is the same across the net. The funny thing is to look at the view count. These threads keep getting looked at, and usually people post in them. Which, like I said is not always a bad thing, sometimes someone posts some good info in a thread that was asked multiple times in one day. Just the nature of the beast I guess.

I cant wait until all the new lines come out... A whole new crop of "Is this (Insert Club Here) right for me?"

I went through these forums and searched specific clubs, brands, etc... but I was looking for negative feedback more so than positive. I already know I like them... I just want other viewpoints or possible detractors that I havent thought about yet.

Finally... I would buy Pings even if they were sold at Dicks.

I'd say stick with ping. Even if dicks gets them, they are still great clubs. I play ping i10's, i highly recommend them, they are sweet and feel just right.

There was not even a sliver of sarcasm there.

Absolutely... you should be plus handicap within 72 hours! I heard they were made by Tiger but he cant play them because it wouldnt be fair to the rest of the players on tour. You should consider yourself lucky that you scored a set.

Post of the year! Brilliant…..absolutely brilliant!

Birdieman, I think the intent of your semi rant has been lost in translation. You are absolutely right, it makes no sense to tell another person that Bridgestone irons are right for them (in all seriosity they are the best) without understanding their game or swing. However, this "golf equipment" MB would be quite slow and boring if people didn't chime in about how their Ping G10 3-wood is the best club ever made.

Internet forums are all the same. Member posts this question:

"Which Driver is Best?"

Membership responds to original poster by telling him/her what driver they currently play. Like that's going to help anybody!!!

The problem with equipment/gear questions is that people don't ask the question properly. If they were more descriptive about gear they've played, tried, provided information about current ball flight, skill level, number of rounds played a year and on what types of courses, some of the more experienced guys here could provide some pretty solid choices for the original poster to research and perhaps try.

My other hobby is guitar playing. Not a day goes by where somebody will ask "What's the best amp?" "What's the best guitar?" "What's the best Overdrive Pedal?" Since there are hundreds of each, the original posters receives the exact same response as they do here: Here's what I'm playing right now and it's the best!

Ok, there's MY rant! Ask a better question, get useful responses!

Actually your post closely mirrors my feelings on this. Every club decision is a trade off. Feel Vs. Forgiveness. Weight, cost, resale, skill level, esthetics, tradition, availablity and I am sure other things I can't articulate. The magic bullet and herd mentality of many posters hints that they 1. don't really know their own capabilities. 2. haven't really done their homework. 3. Aren't really trying to help, just trying to reinforce how clever and superior they are in some way or another. My mid handicap clubs are not forgiving enough for new golfers, are to light for stronger players, lack feel preferred by better players, but they suit me very well. Even Padrig carries a couple of the next generation model long irons in his bag. Yet they are not a major player in the USA and probably wouldn't be considered by the Knee Jerk, only xxx brand is any good crowd. The truth is there are a lot of great clubs out there. Explaining who a certain club is for should be the goal, or at least why it suits you.

I'm really tired of seeing all these posts. Thats all this forum is made up of now. Which driver which this which that. We are all different.. how are we supposed to give you an opinion based on your play from 2000 miles away?

Go to a store, try each club and make your own decision. People post really bad questions on here that are common sence and just require a little thinking.
