I wanted to buy a new hybrid, but I was looking at my old set of Dunlop Clubs and noticed there was a seven wood. It is just a little bigger than a traditional hybrid and has a steel shaft. I hit it far and high off the tee and deck. What is the average loft of a seven wood? What hybrid could this replace loft wise? Thanks in advance.

Depends on the manufacturer. My research shows between 22 and 25 degrees though that's probably not set in stone.
My Equipment:
Northwestern 3-, 5-, 7- and 9-wood;
Goldwin AVDP Irons (5-10 plus PW);
U.S. Golf 60 degree wedge;
See-More Putter; Bushnell Yardage Pro 1000 Rangefinder;Golflogix GPS.

The loft of a fairway wood is typically 15 degrees for a standard 3-wood, 19 degrees for a 5-wood, and 24 degrees for a 7-wood. The loft of the 5-wood corresponds to a 2-iron, and the 7-wood to a 4-iron. Many intermediate golfers are using these woods as reliable substitutes for the corresponding irons.
I just found this. Mabey I should use my 5 wood instead because I wanted to replace my thrre iron with something easier to hit.

24* for a 7-wood sounds about right. It would replace a 4-hybrid. Not sure if Id want to replace my 4-hybrid with a 7-wood though. You can hit a hybrid off of tight lies and out of rough that you wouldnt even dream of hitting off of or out of with a fairway wood. To each their own though...

most 7 woods have 21 or 22 degrees of loft. A 5 wood replaces a 2 iron and a 7 wood replaces the 3 iron. Why do you think most tour pros swap out "their 2 irons for a 5 wood or a 5 wood for a 2 iron" depending on course conditions.

When I got Fitted by Callaway they give a 7 wood instead a 3 iron and a 4 hybrid in replace of the 4 iron.

My biggest difference right now is that I used a lot my 3 iron to get out of trouble when you need a very low shoot (Under the trees). And the 7 wood does everything but that. I now use a 5 iron way back my stance for low shoots.

My 7 wood is the exact same distance that the one I got from my previous 3 iron but a LOT higher shoot.
