I can't wait to try out the Woods, there is a good chance I will replace the fairway woods, not likely on the Driver though. I'm interested in the irons and the niblick for my father.

Wow that Launcher looks nice, I wonder if it will compete with the HiBore series at all? Funny, it is not even listed on the Cleveland official site....

Agreed.

I like the HiBore, but I don't have the stock shaft... I find that it is not as long as I thought it would be, but that could be due to the shaft/loft combination, I really hit the ball high with this driver... I do find that it gives me pretty good control off the tee...

I have read that the Launcher was a "hot" driver, and the description says that this one has a thin face... so I am guessing it would be pretty long...

I've been thinking about getting a higher lofted driver for wet conditions. I have an extra NV Shaft that I would stick in it. If it gives me a good carry... I may think about it.

Wonder if this means they will stop the Hi bore wood design....i have the XLs at the moment (11.5 loft) an it is very nice, if a little excessivly loud. I just dont quite understand how manufacturers run two drivers alongside each other unless they are vastly different. That launcher looks quite long (front to back) so i reckon it could have the inverted crown in it still.

One things for sure, i picked a good time to sell my hi bore irons....looks like those XLi irons will be replacing them, at the moment they are still the current model!

Driver: Sumo 5000 9.5 Degrees Aldila Proto VS Stiff shaft.
Hybrid: 4DX IW 20 Degrees Stiff shaft.
Fairway Wood: 15 Degrees 3 wood Fujikura Red stiff Shaft.
Irons: Tour Burner 4 - PW.
Wedges: Z groove 52 Gap Wedge, CG11 Black Pearl 56* Sand Wedge, Vokey Black nickel 260.04 60 Degree Lob Wedge.

Take a look at every major manufacturer out there. They run two and sometimes as many as 5 simultaneously.

I get really good carry out of the HiBore, and I don't even have the XL... But I get very little roll due to the high ball flight... that is a fair trade off for me, though, because I hit the fairway more often...

Doubtful that they will drop the HiBore. They've spent so much time, money, R&D;, ads, etc promoting it to drop it now.

The last version of the Launcher was a Composite head at the $399 price point, which I imagine this is what the new one will be. Leaving the HiBore as their bread and butter driver at the $299 price point. Most manufacturer's do this, Callaway, Nike, TaylorMade, now Titleist with the new 909's. It's a way for them to capture more market share. The HiBore XLS has been an absolute dog in our shop. Honestly it seems liek the only time we move one is when we "sell" it to a tournament as a prize.

Is the niblick club just a chipper, or is it like a all around utility club. like they were back in the day?

Not sure... it comes in two different lofts (37 and 42)

Per Cleveland: Cleveland Niblick: Add some improved consistency and forgiveness to you chips, pitches, recovery and even approach shots. The Cleveland Niblick combines a wedge's sole (8° bounce) to prevent fat shots, a putter's length for control, an irons leading edge to hosel transition for a natural address position, and a hybrid's increased heel-toe blade length, perimeter weighting and CG depth to raise MOI and improve stability. So I am guessing more of a utility club.

cant imagine why, it's a brilliant piece of kit!

When people point out a price difference of over $100 i begin to see how they can sell two at once....the big question what with there being the regular, draw and tour version of the XLS, is.....Will the Launcher be any better?

Agreed.

I have hit every hibore club ever made and have loved the heads but I dispised the shafts, I could have bought the clubs and changed the shafts but it is to much of a hassle.

The XLS has a high spin and high launch angle, so even tho it's say a 10.5* the launch angle is closer to a 13*. The high spin exaggerates the loft, so if you hit it straight it tends to ballon up every once in awhile due to the back spin.

    • Day 20: Did 30 minutes after getting home from work, before kid's baseball practice. This session was piecing out the new hip move in transition, doing 2-3 rehearsals from the top, and then hitting a ball from between P5/P6. Did another 45 minutes after baseball practice and dinner. Did 30 more minutes of what I did earlier, and then about 15 minutes of full swings trying to incorporate athletically.
    • Day 296: did a stack session.
    • Day 126: 5/1/24 Putting and chipping practice. Slow motion swings with 8-iron.
    • #4 - 1st hole at Kingsbarns I rolled in a 15 footer for birdie. Showed my caddie an old guy could still play a bit. #3 - 18th hole at Basin Harbor Club, Vergennes, VT. I had played matches against my nephew over the years. He had never beaten me although through the years he had become a long hitting teenage golfer. I was 1 up but bunkered near the 18th green. My nephew had a long putt for birdie. I splashed out of the bunker to 4 feet. He rolled his first putt close and I gave him the par. Sadly for him, I rolled mine in and won our last match. He went off to college and then Europe for a Ph. D. It was our last match. Family champion forever. #2 - First playoff hole in the City of Livonia, MI “65 & Over” division. I rolled in an 8 footer that broke about 4-5 inches. #10 Whispering Willows GC. #1  18th hole at TPC Prestancia, Sarasota, FL. A 4 foot slicing putt for par to beat the prior year’s Member/Guest winners and win the Member/Guest with my father at his club. I was having heart palpitations as I played the final hole solo when my father put two in the water. There was never a better golf sight for me when that ball dove into the hole.
    • Finally, wedges getting somewhere. This one a punch gap from 87 yards to about 12 feet. Contact and ball flight absolute restaurant quality. It's nice when grass comes back.
