My only eagle came on a short Par 4, I think about 210 yards. I was in Florida over Christmas this past winter at my grandparents house and was using a borrowed set of clubs at an executive, par 62 course. This was the time where I hadn't yet figured out my game, but was driving the ball consistently straight that day. Anyway, I hit I nice unintentional fade 5 feet from the hole and sank the putt. It was the greatest feeling I had had in golf to that date. I finished the day with an 82 after shooting in the 90's the day before.
If I were to play that course again, I would probably only use a driver on one hole and even then take a nice easy swing.

I haven't got or seen a hole in one yet, but I did almost see a hole in one on a par 4. At my home course we have a par 4 that is straight and only about 300 yards (there is was a nice big tree in the middle of the fairway). You often see balls getting to the green on this holes from the longer hitters, but the one day someone behind be landed just in front of the green with their drive, the ball rolled onto the green, and then missed the cup by only a few inches at most...ended up a few feet past the hole so I think it would have had a good chance to drop if it hit the hole/pin.

On a side note...what's up with all the super short par 4s people are talking about??? Since when is a hole barely over 200 yards considered a par 4. We have a par 3 here that is close to 220...and that's not even from the tips.

Haha. The course I mentioned above, as you can imagine being in Boca Raton, FL, is filled with oldtimers. The course is predominantly par 3 with a few "par 4s" peppered in. I think the longest hole was the first hole, Par 4 about 230.

I don't believe that I have played a course since that has such a short par 4.

[QUOTE=kc8kir;208798]The mysteries of golf show themselves again.QUOTE]Because you know if he did enter the skins game, it probably would have hit the pin, and rolled off the green, or even worse, stayed on the edge of the cup.

Quite! I've played a few courses with some short par 4s, the course where I was a member had one that was 289yrds from the tips, 275yrds from the mens tees. Tricky to get drive the green though since bunkers and rough guarded the hole if going directly for it.

Where my brother plays their shortest par 3 is 220yrds from the mens tees!

And they're only handicap 13 & 15!!

They're not as easy as they look. 1 is surrounded by bunkers, and 9 is uphill, and if you're long or right you're completely dead. The "weaker" 3 are Par 3's.
