Here in the Chicagoland area we just got hammered by a nasty front that dumped a ton of water on us in 3 days, and the residual Ike stuff is still headed our way from what I hear. I know Texas got pounded by Ike and the front we got came up from the Kansas and Missouri area...so for those of us lucky enough to have not been completely displaced by the recent bouts of nasty weather...how did the courses in your area fare? I drove by my home course today and I am not quite sure if hole 9 has a fairway anymore, and I am assuming the 8th hole is looking like the 17th at Sawgrass by now.

Not sure when things will be dry enough to play again. Going to have to try and make it to the range just to swing the sticks before I forget how.

Driving from Michigan to Illinois last evening every single golf course I drove by had a huge amount of standing water. I can't help but think this is going to lead to an early end to the midwest golf season. I guess I'm going to have to plan a trip down south this winter to play.

I haven't seen any courses around here yet today. We mainly got pretty high winds (gusts up to about 75 mph) here in Central Ohio. Yesterday morning, I was playing at a nine hole course before the wind really started (we were having some gusting up to around 15-20 mph) me and the guy I got paired with were on the green of the 8th hole, which runs parallel to the 2nd hole and the greens are right next to each other, and we here a big CRAAAACK and look over at the 2nd green and all of a sudden a tree that was just off that green broke and dropped covering almost the whole right half of the green and the entire bunker on that side of the green. The group playing that hole had just moved off that green and towards the next tee box when it happened. It was crazy. After yesterday, having looked around at the other trees on the course, I am sure that course is a mess now.

I normally take lessons at Cantigny golf course (I live about 45 minutes west of Chicago) but due to the rain I didn't get to play all weekend.

By my house is a ditch that has recently turned into a lake.

I live in Northern Indiana and went to play today - the course was open, but it was a mistake. On the plus side, I know EXACTLY how far my drives carry - every single one went 2 inches into the ground and bounced back out about 6 inches back. The entire course was SOAKED, they shouldn't have been letting people play.
