Today, as I was playing a round with my dad, I was on the 1st tee box. I went up to hit first and on my backswing I heard a slight crack, but I didn't stop my swing, and on the downswing I hit the ball and then the club and most of the shaft flew down the fairway as well. The shaft broke 6 inches under the end of the grip. It's a Taylormade 580 XD and I've had it for about four years. I am trying to figure if I can get it replaced, or whether I am better off buying a new driver. Suggestions?

Is it regular or stiff? The reason I ask is because I'm selling my R580XD 10.5 with the stock M.A.S. stiff shaft.

Pretty simple to get a shaft replaced. Any golf shop should be able to do this for you. Take some time with your shaft decision though as i see you are a 4 hcap so this choice will make a very big difference in flight.

I think I'll test out some new drivers, as I have been wanting a new driver for a while. Back when I bought the R580 XD I was 12 and since then I have grown about a foot and am about 50 pounds bigger, not to mention I've knocked about 25 strokes off of my handicap So I think the best driver and shaft options for me have changed greatly since then.

I think it might be time for a new driver. Look around see what you like... around this time you can get some really great deals on some awesome clubs.

Send in your driver to Taylormade. A friend of mine broke his R510 TP, that he has had since it was released, and they sent him a brand new Burner TP free of charge when it broke last year.

Thanks for the offer, but I called Taylormade and all I have to do is send in my club and they'll give me a 9.5* head with a Fujikura shaft for no cost at all.

Wow, that's sure good PR for Taylormade -- keep your customers happy and they'll keep coming back year after year. Wish more companies were like that.

I just broke my driver today. It snapped at the hosel and it was a clean break. Can they cut off some and put it back on?
