What does anyone know about Titleist 907 D2 Driver 10.5* Stiff Aldila VS Proto 65

I am looking at a Titleist 907 D2 Driver 10.5* Stiff Aldila VS Proto 65. Does anyone have any info on these drivers or has anyone hit one

From what I have read, the 907 series of drivers is a pretty high spinning head, but that shaft is great, I had one on my last 3 wood and driver, and I loved it, so smooth and it launched pretty low.

The 907D2 was (is) a total disaster for Titleist. Many of the Titleist "ambassadors" (don't you love that term?) stuck with their 905Rs after trying the 907D2. They were obviously compelled to use the 907D2 headcover, but preferred their older drivers. Like a fool, I bought one as soon as they came out, and absolutely hated it. Luckily I was able to unload it for more than I paid for it.

I would wait for the 909 series. Obviously, the Titleist pros are under pressure to promote the latest offerings, but they voted with their feet big time with this dog. Save your money.

Or not. The 907 (both the D1 and the D2 had similar launch characteristics) come in at about the same spin rate but with a slightly lower launch than a 905R. That may be what you want.

The 909s all spin less than the 907s and, consequently, the 905R. The DComp launches much higher than the 907D2, the 909D2 slightly higher (with the same spin as the DComp), and the 909D3 launches lower and has significantly less spin than the 909D2 and also the 907D2, making the 909D3 the club everyone will think they want, when really the 909D2 is better for them. I've gamed my 907D2 for two years now. Pros liked the 905R because it launched higher. I tend to launch the ball high enough with the driver, so the quarter degree lower launch suited me and has suited a lot of other players, too. It hasn't been a great selling club, but it's not a "total disaster" either.

Haven't hit the driver, but that is a great shaft -- I had my Callaway 3W re-shafted last year, and that's what I put in.

I am having a hard time deciding between a proforce v2 or the Aldila VS Proto 65 to put in my 3 wood also

I think the failure thing is BS, since getting my d2, I have hit the ball straighter, and farther than with any other driver. Im gonna look into a 909d3 when they come out, i like the low launch, as sometimes i hit the d2 sky high.

I played these exact specs except I changed mine to 9.5* after one round. With your handicap, my guess is that you are 100+ swing speed with the driver. I think 10.5 loft is way too much. There was really no "penetrating feel" with the 10.5's. It had this "Ballooning" feel? I hope you understand. anyways, I changed to 9.5 and now I'm a happy camper...I wouldn't change the shaft.

What do yo mean by that? I mean I'm a single digit handicap, and is my SS over 100? No. Don't be quick to assume things, especially since handicap has nothing to do with swing speed.

That's a tough one. As I said, my Big Bertha 3W has the Aldila VS Proto 65 in it, but my new Tour Edge has the proforce V2 and I plain love that club. Coin toss, I'd say.
