Well I have no clue what happened to my driver. All of a sudden I have lost my driver swing completely. But let me tell u a bit about myself first. I've really started getting serious this summer. I started off with a major slice but also great distance. Then come like July, I fixed this and started hitting amazing. I mean like 260 strait away. I was in a groove and couldn't miss if I tried. But then for like the past few weeks I've just lost it. No matter what I do I can't make good contact. Everything is topped or popped up, the ball would never go past 100 yards.

So I ask you, has this ever happened to you? Also is there anything I can do about it? I've tried taking time off to shake any bad habits but that didn't work. I've also worked with my pro all day today and it seems to be getting a little better but still no real results. Please help me hahaha

yeah this same thing happened to me when i started playing baseball again. it's times like this where you really take your swing for granted.

although i really practiced hard on getting back my fundamentals. watching the pro's, and taping my own swing so i could compare myself. it's like having your own pro teach you lessons. you would be surprised how much it could help you. after years of playing golf, i never knew what my swing looked like until i saw a video of it. i'm not sure if you have, but it really helped me visualize things much better. in example; being able to see what i'm doing wrong and fix it... by myself. of course it will take a while, but that's how i fixed my swing.

hopefully this helps a little bit

Sometimes you just go through times where your swing isnt very good. I have days where I hit the ball really pure and I have other days where you'd swear Ive never swung a golf club in my life.
It could be that you started doing something different in your setup or your swing that is throwing you offer.
A lot of the time, when we are hitting the ball poorly we tend to get lazy and our swing suffers because of it.
Id suggest getting back to the basics and make sure that your stance, alighment, grip and that your swing is right. You could be doing 1 little thing wrong and throwing off your entire swing.
You also might just be overthinking it. If you have all these swingthoughts in your head it tends to really get in the way.
I find that when Im playing well, Im not really thinking about anything during my swing. I just focus on turning my back to the target on my backswing and just making a nice, easy swing.

if you have reasonable fundamentals what you have lost is usually your tempo. Rather than spend a day with the pro (expensive?) work on rythmn hitting 3 quarter shots and trying to find your tempo. Its often that simple when you loose it, you stand the same you grip the same etc your tempo is different so club and ball do not meet as they should.

I agree... When I have problems off the tee it is normally my tempo and being too quick at the top. I slow it down to what I think is a 3/4 swing and it typically works itself out.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
