I've searched far and low and can't find any decent reviews on Nike fairway woods. I know a few tour players use them, but i'm sure they have some special tour issue equipment that the normal joe can't buy. I went to my local shop over the weekend and he shunned me away from the clubs. He says they will be the shortest thing i've ever hit. I actually don't mind this if they go straight. I'm interested to hear your views on this.

What works for me may not work for you or anyone else for that matter.

From my experience I can hit my nike 3 wood decent off the tee - but that is it. In all honesty it is probably the next club to leave my bag once I find something that makes more sense - whether it be another wedge, 4 wood, etc.

I have a Nike T40 3 wood and when hit well it doesn't lose out too much to my driver. My brother recently got an SQ 3 wood and that goes some too. I have never heard anyone say that a nike wood/club is short on distance.

Are you talking about the sasquatch sumo squared woods, because they probably get the ball up high and land it soft which probabl means a loss of about 5 to 8 yards.

I have the SasQuatch2 3-wood and 4-wood. I don't use the 3-wood anymore and need to sell it, but I love the 4-wood. For me, the 3-wood was too difficult to hit off the deck and too long to be honest...I just wanted a club that could get it out there 230-240 and be relatively easy to hit...the 4-wood does a great job of that.

In my Datrek Rage bag:

first of all dont worry about what the tour players are using what works for them may not necessarily work for you their swing is different than yours in so many different ways. On top of that my dad has met Hale Irwin and asked why he plays the irons he does and irwin says because they pay him the most to.

I personally have them and dont like the feel compared to some other clubs like the Callaway x's. You got to try it for yourself and get the feel for it.

I would love to be the first to know when you decide to sell your 3-wood.

I've been using a Nike SQII 3-wood/metal (standard Diamana stiff-shaft) for the last year and have had no problems with it.

I can get about 230 carry with it on a normal, calm warm day.

Nike clubs suck. Period. If you are a 3.9 handicap then you should be buying titleist 906F fairway woods. They are the best thing on the market right now if you are a low handicapper.

Wow, I would have to say that has to be one of the worst post that I have seen in the past year of being a member on this site. I mean come on, different clubs work for different people, different strokes for different folks. Not only that who is the number one player sponsored by? Nike. Think before you post please, posts like this are just stupid and unwarranted.

Pretty stupid post.

I use a Nike driver and a Nike 4 wood. I have the cash to spend on whatever the hell I want (and believe me I have experimented with far too much of that cash) and I wound up with all Nike squared woods. In fact, the only wood I have ever hit by Nike that I didn't like was their first squared wood. I'd be happy with any of the rest of them.

I stand by my opinion that Nike woods are garbage compared to Titleist and Taylormade, because thats what it is AN OPINION. You don't have to take it to heart. My post is no different than those that say Nike clubs are great. Also, do you really think it matters what kind of clubs Tiger Woods plays with? You could give him a set of top flight irons and persimmon woods and he would still strike the ball like a god. The reason Tiger plays Nike is because they gave him a fat contract, not because they make the best equipment. If you recall he played all titleist clubs when he was an amateur before he signed with Nike.

But see that's the thing, you worded your post not as an opinion, but a fact, you said they suck period, not IMO they suck. And my point about Tiger is obviously they are good enough for him, but obviously what is good enough for Tiger isn't good enough for you. Now realize I do play all Titleist clubs, but that is because that is what I hit the best and I like the looks to all of it, I do like Nike gear, but I just don't hit it better then what I have.

To the OP, last week when I was in Oregon I went to a store called Fiddler's Green and they let you hit anything you want. I did a full bag fitting, and I hit many fairway woods, and the Nike Square 4 wood was my second favorite fairway wood that I hit, and if I didn't hit my 906F4 just as far as every single other fairway wood that I hit then the Nike would be in my bag. So personally I think that Nike makes a really solid fairway wood, but my best advice would be to go do what I did, demo anything that you can and get what you hit the best, and like the look of,

You didn't say you

thought Nike clubs were garbage. You said:

And you gave no reasons for your "opinion".

That's no different than someone posting "mattymz1 sucks. Period." - it's meaningless. "Garbage" implies that they are poorly made, ineffective for their intended use, and of no value to a player. Clearly that is not the case. TW uses them, and so do Stewart Cink, Justin Leonard, Paul Casey, Trevor Immelman, and any number of other pros and amateurs with handicap indexes ranging from plus, to the max. EDIT: 907 types faster than me.

    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

    • Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
