McGregor Pro M Gunmetal Irons - Strange Finish Residue on Face

Hey guys,

I've been chatting with a few members on here about the new McGregor ProM irons and gunmetal clubs in general. The clubs are probably three months old and have held up well and I am enjoying them. I am only curious about one thing... there appears to be a strange white finish on the clubhead grooves. It doesn't affect the playability in any way but at times I can notice the white "residue" before hitting shots, especially with my shorter irons. Has anyone experienced this reaction in the finish in any of their gunmetal finished clubs or the actual McGregors. Also, any suggestions for clearing this up...

So far I have tried a food grade silicone lubricant but it has not cleared up.

I have attached a detailed shot of the clubface to show everyone exactly what it is I am talking about

Zero experience with this on clubs. I however have seen this on weapons. It is either the silicone or a packing grease, (ie. cosmoline) I use a dry release that contains Teflon and it causes the same result. The product is oxygenating in use and causing the build up. If it keeps up switch to some WD40 or the like, it will clear it up.

I used the silicone spray after the clubface started to "cloud" up... hmm, this is strange

Have you tried using scotch brite pads and cleaning it off? or is it a stain of some sort?

I'm not entirely sure what it is... when I clean my clubs they look perfect but as soon as they dry the white finish comes through again.

I dont have your irons but could the white residue be something that rubs of golf balls because after I gp to the range my irons look just like that.

Have you tried Mr. Clean's Magic Erasers? Those things work freaky good on all sorts of stuff. Like Scotch Brite pads, but without the scratching. I'm pretty sure they use alien technology . . . or are made from aliens. One or the other.

      Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.

      Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
