I am thinking of putting a mat and net up in the basement this winter. OH can be quite cold, so i would like to keep it inside. I have 10' ceilings in my basement storage area, and was looking for advice from the group on whether or not this is tall enough. Ave height player 5'9". Width is not a problem. Thanks!

I have tall ceilings in my apartment. What I have done is put down a mat. I hit those short flight balls in the other room, just to get the feel. I would like to have a regular net to hit into. What happens when you take a comfortable full swing in your basement space? Does the club hit? I would think that that would be your main concern. Something else to keep in mind is the surface that your hitting from. Some mats are not recommended for hard surfaces. I got one, after returning one that was way too thick for true set-up. The new one is said to be suitable for concrete. When I hit it makes a good bang and I just don't know if doing this will adversely effect the lie of my forged clubs.

I put mine out back because (a) I don't have a basement (live in California) and (b) the net my wife bought me is 20' x 15', so it pretty much would have to go outside anyway unless I had a dedicated romper room downstairs. Seems to me though (from my attempts to practice my swing inside) that you need about 15' of height to feel comfortable with a swing, and about 10' on either side. I start feeling claustrophobic otherwise.
