What new stuff is being released soon - I know about X-22 irons, bridgestone's e7+ balls, I've heard a bit about some new nike blades...

What is new?

Woods: Big Bertha 3 and 5 wood stock shaft, Light flex
Hybrids: None
Irons: Viper Tour 4-PW -1", 4* flat

Like stow said Titleist is releasing the 909 drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids. They will also be releasing the new Vokey wedges.

Ping released the Rapture V2, and Adams released the A4 line.

Cleveland is going to release a whole new line of putters under the Cleveland name, not Never Compromise. They are also going to release a new Launcher series, driver, and fairway wood, as well as the new niblick.

Nike is releasing new blades, split cavities, and full cavity irons as well as new wedges under the VR name. They will also be introducing a new driver and fairway wood line, but there is no news of a new hybrid line.

Callaway is releasing the X-22, X-22 Tours, and X Forged II irons. For drivers they will have the FT-Iq, the FT-9, and the Big Bertha Diablo. All that I can remember from them for fairway woods were the Big Bertha Diablos, but I'm sure there was one more line for the better player, and I also forgot about the hybrids.

Odyssey will be releasing a few more putters under the White Hot XG, White Hot Tour, Black Series (including a 2-Ball) and Divine line series, along with a new line similar in price to the Ping Karsten series. Some of the new designs will look very radical and different, if you can't stand the looks of the Sabertooth or the Spider then you better wait because the new putters will blow your mind.

All that I have heard from Cobra is the new L5V, which is supposed to be a very solid stick. You can change the club face from square to open a degree IIRC.

Those are the only companies that I can think of right now, but if you want to know about one ask me, as I may know what they are coming out with.

Here's what I play:

Titleist 907 D2 10.5* UST ProForce V2 76-S | Titleist 906F4 18.5* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist 585H 21* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist ZB 4-PW TTDG S300 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 54.10 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 60.08 | Scotty Cameron Red X5 33" |

I have heard something about the Callaway Big Bertha Diablo irons, are they making these?

Also, how expensive are the X-22's?

Any TaylorMade clubs, esp. irons?

I do not recall Big Bertha Diablo irons, I'm almost 100% positive that they are just keeping the Big Bertha I-Brids from this year, and also staying with their every 2 years release a new Big Bertha set.

The X-22's I think will retail around the same price as the X-20's did, although I did not see any MSRP numbers. All I have heard of from Taylormade in terms of irons, have already released, the Burner Plus irons, and the Tour Preferred.

Everyone I've talked to says the r7 limited is amazing and that the 09 burner blows.

Yep - i've heard as much too. I'm going to try both though. The 2007 Burner is awesome, i've upgraded all my clubs except my irons this winter - I love the Burner but might try something if I can demo it!

Will nike still stick with the sasquatch name or are they launching a brand new driver?

The new stuff (drivers, fairways) will be under the SQ Dymo name. There will be 2 lines within for the drivers for a total of 4 drivers. If you want to know more information just PM and I can explain.

hawkeye, when I was in Oregon and completely redoing my bag I demo'd everything they had in the store (very very wide selection, for reference their website is here ) and I hit the '09 Burner, and I must say that I agree with what you have heard. Many of the employee's, including the 2 that were helping fit me for my bag, said that it was not worth hitting since it was a terrible stick, but I hit it anyway because one man's garbage is another man's treasure. But I will say that I agree with the employee's, the '09 Burner was a huge let down compared to the '07 Burner, and the '08 Tour Burner, well IMO.

Did doing it like that work out well?

I am looking at redo-ing my bag completely in spring, I'm probably going to do something similar. That's why I wanted info on new clubs. I got to try the Callaway X-22's today, my local store just got them in. Didn't swing, just picked them up and felt what the balance, etc. were like. They are really nice.

Yes, it worked out very well, if you can, since you are in Washington I would suggest driving to Eugene, Oregon and spend a day or 2 at Fiddler's Green. Every staff member is very knowledgeable, and they have fitters and club makers there every day. If you would like to know more about the process PM me, because this thread is not the place for that, but I would be glad to help you out.

Is there a certain time that clubs come out like new cars used to? Or is it all random?

    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

    • Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
