Ditto that....I have a butane "handwarmer" that I've used in the past...works pretty good.

The little handwarmer packs that you can buy at Walmart are more convenient, though.

Do people seriously take this into consideration when playing? Trying to keep your ball warm?

I mean, it's proven that you lose some distance but it's what, maybe 5 yards? The average golfer isn't good enough to put the same swing on the ball consistently anyway which leads to a lot of poor contact and errant tee shots. How would you even know if you lost distance because your ball was cold or if it was because you nearly missed the ball and caught it on the heel?

Definitely, the weather pattern has taken a turn for the worse recent weeks and I've had to keep my golf balls and clubs in the house as opposed to the trunk of the car. On occasion I did not, it's quite a noticeable difference. I'd lose at least one club of distance in 50 degree weather, part of it is that overnight is much colder than when you're playing out on the course. It takes hours for the balls to "heat up".

If you just don't leave the balls out to freeze overnight, that'll dramatically decrease the amount of distance loss. FYI, I've also read somewhere that golf balls perform best in 80 degree weather. But who knows...

I guess my thing is that if you're playing in cold weather, there's no way you're going to stop your balls and clubs from getting cold in a 5 hour round of golf so really, it's not worth putting much effort into keeping everything warm if you ask me. I played a round last year where it was 32 degrees Fahrenheit when we teed off on it's way to a high of 38 degrees and I didn't see much change in my distances.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
