Since I have started back playing my game has greatly improved. My score has improved to around the mid 90's. That is about 12 strokes improvement. I started playing consistantly about 3 or 4 months now, In the last 3 weeks have finally figured out how to hit my driver. Now I can hit it straight with very little slice 75% of the time. I would like to play perhaps a softer low to mid spin ball.

The ball I play is Callaway HX Hot. I found 2 balls the last couple times I played and tried them yesterday and really liked both one was a Callaway IX Tour and the other is a Bridgstone 330-S. I really like both. I am guessing my driver swing speed is probably around 80 to 85. My driver is a regular shaft 9.5 Titleist 983K. As for distance I am guessing 220 to 240. I still want a long ball.

For a softer, low spin ball.....I don't possibly see how you can do better than the Bridgestone E6+.

I do believe there is a difference in your game due to the ball you strike. Some of it is 'mental', and some of it is due to technology of the Ball.. Fore !!!!!!!

Eventually, I'll get the hint and stop advertising, which is against the rules.

There is a difference in golf balls, With the prov1 it gives you about 10 more yards off the tee on a regular tee shot.

A good ball is the NXT, or NXT tour by titleist, a good price and a great feeling ball.

Generally it will not make that much of a difference but when you upgrade the the proV you will definatly notice the difference.

You weren't imagining things, the Bridgstone 330-S is an excellent ball.

I also forgot to mention....you may also like the Bridgestone 330 RX. It offers a lot of the benifits of the 330 S but is a lower compression ball for normal or slower swing speeds.

I'm firmly convinced that many playing the ProV1 just aren't reaping the full benefit of this ball due to their "lower-than-pro" swing speeds. I'm sure I'm gonna get bashed around over this statement...but I truly believe it. The ProV1 is an awesome ball, no doubt, just not for everyone. It's what ever you like, though.

I really dont know that much about the Bridgstone balls but one guy I play with ocassionally plays the E6. He mentioned yesterday that he wants to try the 330 RX. He said they are new and our LGS was only able to order 15 Dozen and said they had sold 9 of them before they got them in. I looked at the specs and with my slower swing speed looks like they may be a good ball for me.

I bought some for my father for his birthday.

He'll be down next month and we'll get a long overdue chance to tee it up.

I think he's gonna like these even better than his ProV 1 balls.

The only downside right now is...as you mentioned, the availability. They are brand new and it's going to take the manf. a while to get inventory levels up and manageable.

Is cost a factor? How many balls do you lose during an average round? If you liked your HX Hot, might want to try the Hot Bite. Some affordable golf balls are NXT Extreme, DT Solo/Carry/Roll, AD333, Top Flite Gamer, TM Burner TP, and Wilson Zip.

I'm currently working through many golf balls to try and find which ball fits me best. Went from DT Solo's to NXT Tour for more spin. Will be looking at Wilson Zip and TM Burner TP.

I was playing both the ProV and NikeOne Black early this season. My game was just not strong enough to see the benefit of these balls. Both balls were shorter then my original ball with noticeable "spin" (read slice). I only saw minimal difference around the green and I was used to my original ball.

My original ball: Calloway HX Hot - so I guess that does not help you much

I guess the point is find a ball that works for your game, your swing and your mental approach to the game. Then stick to that ball so that you know that ball - whether it is a ProV or a cost sensitive ball...

    • Day 6: lighter session today after a long day. Just some mirror work and slow swings to try to get my feels down.
    • @Philip Belgium,  If I haven't already, Welcome to TST.  Your injury sounds serious and I hope you fully recover.   Thanks for sharing your story.  ..... each day get 1-2% better.   (A ray of sunshine and a positive outlook)
    • Day 91 (1  Aug 25) - Pre-tournament practice round today…had some great up and downs for par saves.  Rain came in this evening so it will be a totally different playing course tomorrow.
    • Jesus, when he keeps saying scissoring moment, ugh that is a horrible sounding phrase. Just makes me cringe. It doesn't help my mind went to Mr. Garrison from South Park. 🤣 If you know you know.  I think for the most part, golf shaft companies have gotten this figured out. They ask questions like, what tempo do you swing at. The whole scissor terminology sounds like they want to stand out a bit.  Yea, golfers load the golf shaft differently, and different bend profiles can help out. I do think swing speed matters as well. You probably want a golf shaft with lower torque if you swing faster.
    • Played 9 holes, shot a 39.  Kind of got around. Everything between the trees, so in play. Short game was rusty. Got to get back on that. Greens were stupidly slow because they got a lot of rain yesterday and probably couldn't cut them down. Usually in the summer they are firm and pretty fast for how sloped they are. Got to work on face to path a bit.
